Default Clinical research assistant vs ultrasound technician

Hi all,
I've been thinking about what to do the following 12 months until Match Day 2017 (in case I will match). I have few choices - either work as Clinical/ basic research assistant or ultrasound technician. What is better for application to residency?
Does ultrasound technician job count as clinical experience?
I would appreciate any thoughts.

I go with ultrasound technician if you are inclined to use the skill as clinician and make some money in the process. If you want some research experience, and make contacts, go with research.

Thank you for you reply. I feel like US tech would be more useful in terms of connections and clinical experience
