Citadel,
I understand that you're upset, but there's no need to be so negative to your peers. There is always hope.

Chances,
It is true that this SOAP period may be over, however, that doesn't mean your hope should die. Some people who matched may end up having visa issues and having to give up their positions (this happened at one of the hospitals that I rotated through in my 3rd year). Look at my previous larger post that has some resources where PDs may post vacancies. If that doesn't work, try to find a way to improve your application.

There are many stories of people not matching, sometimes for 2-3 years, and then matching! If it's your dream to come to my country and practice, then do your best to make it a reality!

Two step this is my third year in the match. I come from a "third world" Sub-Saharan country, made a lot of sacrifices, 6 months of USCE, pretty descent scores despite working two jobs adding up to 80-85 hours/ week while studying for them. Really good English. Not to mention the exchange rate of our currency to the USD is in 4 figures so it's cost a kidney, arm and leg to pay for all this. Tried to volunteer for research but no one will touch me because of visa issues. Hanging on to hope? Hmmm.... maybe
