Listening Step 3 or USCE

Hi Everyone,
This question may have been repeated number of times in this forum, but I feel my situation is bit different.
I am a very old graduate(13 years).I have been ECFMG certified last month. My step1 score was 223,Step 2 CK 242 and Step 2 Cs pass(i cleared all in first attempt).I don't have any USCE.
If some one can suggest me should I go for Step3 or USCE before filling my application for 2013.
If @Sabio or @Steptaker or other admins can also suggest that shall be really helpful

According to my experience with old graduates, USCE (and hence US LORs) is more valuable than step 3 especially for people who have average scores. My advice for you is try to get observership as soon as possible as the application season is approaching.

No doubt about it. USCE is far more important than Step 3.

Thanks Applicant guide for your response.
I think my Step1 score of 223/95 is not good, while Step2 score of 242/99 is OK.What do you think of my scores, how are they gonna impact my chances?

I think your scores are good enough, USCE will make your application stronger, you have very good chances.

One more thing Applicant guide, though it looks silly to ask ,but someone told me that Step 1 score is more important and I have a score of 223/95 ,will this impact badly on my chances?Won't they look at my step 2 core and also if i get USCE.Please give your opinion.
Thanks

USCE and step 2 score can cover your step 1 although I think it is an acceptable score. Don't worry about this score, apply widely.

The more USCE's you have ,better is your application. You need min of 3 Lor's ,but they may not necessarily be from US.

Even if all say Step3 is not required, but truth is most program directors prefer IMG's with step3,and this is quite true for all or atleast most IMG's in need of Visa.Others may be better of with or without step3.

Correct Answer Step3 for IMG's

I too have enquired ,most say Step3 is required for IMG's requiring Visa. Many of IMG friendly programs require IMG's with visa issues to have passed Step3.
