If I had to guess I'd say no longer than your personal statement, but not quite sure.

I really feel like this year is way slower than last year (of course except to those with double 260+)
In comparison to previous years and specifically last year, by this time most programs had sent out interviews or rejections. I don't think it's the case for this year yet. Any thoughts on this?

Technically based on usmle data average scores are 229 on step 1 and 240 on step 2 ck and i've seen people with much higher scores sufferring this week, i hope it's just a temporary phenomenon, but it's clearly weird. Also what i've seen in AMG forums is that they are not getting as many interviews as they usually would

As per ERAS, Yes, Personal Statements can be edited at any point during the application season even when assigned to programs applied to... but programs are not guaranteed to view or review updated versions of Personal Statements.

corrections to the above list
UPMC is not in michigan... UPMC mercy is different from UPMC main campus..and no IMG received IV from UMich...UMich has never taken any img in 10 years...even mass general is more (much more) img friendly than umich....some people received ivs from central michigan univ or mich state univ which are different from umich..

Add Southern illinois university , rosalind franklin univ chicago , St. Mary's California (I declined the invite) and alameda county to my list..

Detonatordoc your scores are stellar and the number of interviews you've is amazing, but you do not really represent the most of us that barely have interviews, so I honestly wouldn't classify the places you got interviews at as what IMGs even usually get. Your posting here is great but freaking the rest of us out haha :')

I never classified any place as img friendly.. only 3-4 places i received are not img friendly...back in 2015 3 people in this forum got much better invites than i did...Vanderbilt , cornell , south western , yale , UAB-Birmingham , darthmouth ,boston univ etc...check out the user glkmlee and some of the other folks...last year someone from this forum matched in emory physician scientist... the posts of 2015 and 16 helped me immensely in making decision of where to apply...

On a more serious note, I just heard in general AMGs overapplied this year this is why its slower for IMG's in general. Yes we have our rockstars but for the norm this is the bottleneck in my opinion.

Default Come on guy

Give Detonator a break. This forum is to post where you got IVs not where ppl will judge you for having IVs. He has very good credentials. Thats bc he tried very hard. We should appreciate that and not ostracize for being an exceptional candidate. IT would be counterintutitve of this forum to limit ppl from posting bc they feel like they will be judged. Relax everyone. We will get our IVs and I know the system is not the fairest one but its the only one we have so we have to just accept it and do the best we can with it

All I said was that it simply isn't representative and I did commend his scores and interviews. But it is only normal it freaks us out and anyone saying anything else would be lying. All it is, is some (a lot) of envy man but you earned it well and I am sure worked hard for this. So all my respect to you and congrats from now, sorry to have stirred anything uncalled for up.

Back to the important issue: I hope more interviews come by next week!

The AMGs over applying may be true for some programs, but for other mainly IMG programs that haven't answered that much is weird. I honestly believe that this forum has a big percentage of the most outstanding IMGs in this match season and i think interviews will start appearing more and more in the next two weeks or at least i i hope that to happen

I asked few times to give me a full name of the program, so I do not have to guess which exactly program send invites. Yes, of course I know what is the difference between university of Michigan and UPMC or UPMC or UPMC (Mercy). I,m preparing this list for next season obviously for people, so they do not have to pay to get the list. So far I have not seen appreciation to this work. I thank you for giving me the most complete list of the program and your perspective.

AS I remember this person who matched to Emory had PhD from rank 2 or 3 University in the World. Boston University was IMG friendly until recently. Vanderbilt, Cornell, Southwestern, Yale, UAB-Birmingham, Darthmouth - I can not comment, but as I remember IMGs should be consider as exception of the rule. Additionally, people sometimes mix university vs. community program associated with university.

Still waiting on Rutgers NJMS proper though anyone got an IV there recently?

Rutgers RWJ (which is in New brunswick, middle of new jersey, more academic feel, less busy and mostly AMG)
Rutgers NJMS (in Newark, across the river from NY, better pathology for sure but not as "academic")
St. Peter's (community affiliate, not in the same league by any means, basically not going to get a competitive fellowship out of here)

Hi dr270plus

Thanks for replying. That is my understanding too. I was looking for the best thing I could do at the moment to ensure they do look at the edited version.
I agree there is no guarantee, but is there anything I could do other than calling them individually. That is the question really.
Thanks again and wish you all the best!

Update:
I would like to share this information with everyone here. I was told by a program co-ordinator that once you update a document eg.personal statement, it is immediately available to the programs, also that it replaces the previous versions. They usually dont 'download' it. I verified this information with an ERAS representative via phone. So basically I must be calling programs who have already viewed my application. Now because my scores are average and people in my score range have not started getting calls, I am hoping I am still safe.

I look through AMG internal medicine forum and this forum It seems like close to 75-80% of programs already send invites. Those who do not have one or two IVs at this point should start worry...

Haha no need to start an all out panic. AMG's receive there invites a lot earlier than IMG's. Plus based on the 2016 match data 67% of programs send their invites out by the end of October

Most of the programs discussed in SDN (and other AMG IM forums that I'm not aware of) are not IMG friendly. Only a very few programs in their list interest me and many other IMG's (esp. non-Caribb's). So, we do have some time for now. Last week of October is the time to contact programs, should you decide to do so. My opinion.

rutgers njms is the real deal....lot of pathology and research...mainly amgs...some dos...some imgs....this is the main center for rutgers univ...most of the cool research takes place here...but newerk is not necessarily a nice place to stay...
rwj is the 2nd one....in 2003 umdnj and njms merged into a single entity and formed the rutgers med school.....both these places are primary teaching sites ...umdnj had an osteopathic school prior to the merger.... this is predominantly AMG with occasional img and do.... it has mainly insured patients and hands on experience is less....some amgs prefer this to the main one as it is cushy...

st. peters....community program....but a good one....and in a nice area....

Well said. I think everyone is stressed out enough already without people saying it's time to panic. It's not. Wait till November and then go crazy.

Schedule places you want the most in the middle. Like End of Nov - Early Dec.
That way you can practice in Oct-Nov but not be to tired like in late Dec- Jan

I got an email from an app called 3rdfriday saying I got an invitation from rochester geenral hospital. it was in my junk folder, they even asked for a selfie of me! I found it a bit fishy so I want to make sure this is a real invitation. Did anyone else got a same email?

Given your good step 1 score and recent graduation status you should be getting IVs soon. I have talked to a few people who applied last year, they say things are slow this year but we should be expecting some IVs by next and last week of October. So dont worry and good luck for the next week.

So does St. Barnabas. I honestly thought it was spam until I read your post. I got an iv from them and now all the good dates are taken

So does anybody have any information on St. Barnabas? I know it's in the Bronx and that it's affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, but other than that, I know nothing about it. Sounds like a decent program.

Its a prematch program. The affiliation is on paper only. This is an IMG mill. Would not recommend this program unless its the only choice

Thanks for the reply. Nah, it's not my only choice. I wish I had done more research on the programs; now I feel bad for applying too broadly. I'm not interested in prematch to be honest.

St. Barnabas is listed as one of the malignant programs. But ... so was Baylor? Haha! I know people in that program .. choose that one if is your ONLY choice or if you really want to be in NYC.

Guys if you get a confirmation of interview email by the program coordinator but you change the date through an interview broker before the freeze date is that okay? Does that change the interview date?
