By the way, this is a quote from the USMLE 2017 bulletin:
“ IMPOR TANT: The USMLE program recommends that, for Step 3 eligibility, applicants should have completed, or be near completion of, at least one postgraduate training year in a US-accredited graduate medical education program that meets state board licensing requirements”.
It's just a recommendation. I have signed up for the exam without any problem.

I'm participating in this match season too:
1. Caribean Medical School (Big 3)
2. Canadian and Need Visa (J1)
3. USCE x 2 Years
4. Great LORs (2 x program directors, Internal Medicine Doc)
5. Step 1: 22x, Step 2: 22x, Passed CS, No repeats
6. Will be graduating in Early 2017 (Late ECFMG Cert)
7. Applied to +230 programs

Anyone wanna weigh into what are my chances?

No way to tell you chances in IM scores are low but being CARRIB big 3 helps you.

No USCE very hard to match it's almost a requirement now. My friend last year didn't match w 250s and no USCE.

I have to disagree on that. Though getting a US letter from some form of USCE would really boost your application, there are community hospitals that still call recent graduates for interviews without USCE who have good scores (like you do) and have a good profile overall.
That being said, try to get a US lor from an observership or externship and that will really increase your chances.

Your scores are relatively low but they pass a lot of filters, great LORs will help too. I just want to tell you that if you applied to +230 programs you probably didn't do a good research, because you are probably applying to programs which step 1 score is more that 225. GOOD LUCK!!

Redmond regional is a new community program. It's actually quite surprising that it would have such high standards for resident recruitment.

Yeah. I guess they are calling people with high scores and GC first. Then maybe the average scores would get a chance. Surprised you didn't get the invite. Maybe tomorrow

Fingers crossed. It hasn't even been a week, but I'm already starting to dread the horrible silence. Come on...... I'd be happy with a few rejections at least. lol.

A new community program looking for people with scores in 260s. Insane. They (the program) must be over the moon.

Well friend about you not applying to Redmond I'm thinking like others this big score invite is only a first wave I think there will be more with less tiered scores.

I took the risk of applying “late” (19th Sep) waiting for my last waived LOR to be released.

“Only” 3 days of silence is somehow more/less comforting
If only we had a way to fast forward to the SOAP

nope! you have amazing stats. don't worry. IVs are usually not this early. right now, no news is good news. at least it means you aren't filtered out and getting them rejections.

@just-another-img, you make me look so bad by posting your criterion below me . I personally don't think you should be worried by your matching.

Hi, I think that you should ask yourself why you didn't match last year.
If you applied broadly last year, still didn't get any invitations and you have not changed anything dramatically than the odds are aginst you.

I think that your strongest asset is your familiarity with the US health system and US doctors.
If I were you, I would put my money and time trying to get one or two specific programs / doctors know me so good they would offer me a prematch instead of applying year after year.

As for now, consider applying broadly as you can (even more than last year). Worst case scenario, send some program directors an email around november asking/beging for reviewing your application.
Hopefully it will not come to that.

It is only my opinion...
Good luck!!

Email from Flushing: they wanted to know if I have green card or EAD approved. Because my immigration status is "pending application for permanent residency". I have my EAD already though.

Congrats. It is a prematch program. It was initially a teaching hospital for Rosalind Franklin, if I remember correctly. Later, Mount Sinai started its own IM program. It's decent I guess.

Hey, Congrats!! Midtown is a very good program, I've actually rotated there before (but not for IM). Medstar is a solid program, but not as good as Midtown. I saw your post on the previous page, very impressive resume! Hope you did great on Step 2!

I'm not posting my exact stats because I want to remain as anonymous as possible because I applied to 2 specialties that I couldn't decide between and I am paranoid about program directors finding that out and thinking that I'm not committed to a specialty. YOG 2017, US IMG top Carib. Very, very high step scores. No red flags.
