Sorry, will post later since the programs haven't actually sent out any other interviews. Just knew the right people.

Those that are concerned about interviews, don't forget if you check on the NRMP website, last year only 19% of programs sent out invites in September. AMG always get first dibs thus they get most of the interviews in the first month, then they start reviewing applications of IMG. Last 2 years, they started sending them out mid-October to IMG.

I would like to focus on 2 people on this forum who had so far more than 7 IVs each:

Detonatordoc 265 270 2012
Indestructible7 265 259 2016

Congratulation!

What is secret of their success besides step 1 score higher than 260?

These are cred of people with any IVs:
Step 1 Step 2 Year of Graduation Number of Ivs
Aneesh 23 255 253 2016 1
Aky_gupta 258 270 2016 3
AnonEMouse 250 250 2017 2
Coconutpowder 251 263 2015 4
Detonatordoc 265 270 2012 8
Indestructible7 265 259 2016 7
Htayel 230 268 2016 3
Just-another-img 236 264 2011 2
Korsakoff's 2 257 269 2016 1

Updated list, and one more remark. I think step 2 has better correlation with numbers of Ivs, no step 1 as I initially mentioned, but we will keep analyzing.

I think right now people with scores of 260 plus in either of the steps are getting IVs. I believe programs will send out IVs to people with scores of 250s next week and then 240s and so on. Also contacts and recommendations seems like an important factor too.

Update will suggest that indeed step 2 score has better correlation with number of Ivs at least for IMG. They usually required to have ECFMG certificate at the time of application contrary to AMG, where only step 1 is expected. Getting super interesting and Congratulation to those with Ivs!!!

Update will suggest that indeed step 2 score has better correlation with number of Ivs at least for IMG. They usually required to have ECFMG certificate at the time of application contrary to AMG, where only step 1 is expected. Getting super interesting and Congratulation to those with Ivs!!!

I would add the visa status to this list. I believe it plays a role here

Visa status seems like 50/50 from top of the list. Those conclusions will support latest Match data (50% IM for Us and 50% non_US IMGs) I just could not believe that It can be confirmed on such a small samples size.

I know for sure what is not important - research and number of publications:

1. keep your gap between graduation and matching
2. take your time which can be devoted to studying and better scores
3. in no academic programs where we usually match anyway is not expected to have research experience as there is always competition between strictly clinical and research oriented clinicians
4. it may be important if you have US PhD and planning to match to PTSD program, that is the only way for IMGs to highly rank institutions, not guaranteed

Just wondering,
How many programs have people applied too? I am at 172 now
Also when did people send in there complete , Maybe programs are going in order of the date stamp. Have the people that have 3+ IV apply with a full application on the 15th?
Thanks everyone for being part of this group, its very helpful!

Isn't this exiting that 10 days after deadline for application base on the recent match data (6) 10% of the active participant of this forum (60 subjects) already got significant numbers of IVs to match?

Do not lose your hope! this is just beginning!

Based on the YOG (2009), I am a grandmother here

I think it is way to early to do statistics. Participants at this particular topic have very competitive scores. Those scores do not represent the entire pool of IMG applicants. People with moderate/average scores will not participate due to modesty.
If I am not mistaken, matched IMG (last NRMP report data) had step 1 [227] and step 2 ck [233] scores. Based on that data we all should match

Dear Oxana, I agree with almost everything, but only 50% of the IMG for IM will match. I did preliminary stats because I think that those early IVs really reflect what is important, if you are not planning to go for pathway with contacts, connections etc. I like my stats, if you truly have amazing scores you will succeeded and this is reflected by name for the best candidates (Detonatordoc Indestructible7) :-)

I agree with Oxana, its a bit early for analysis. These early IVs do not reflect much as majority of programs have not even started looking at the applications. I am an IMG from India and in last two years 12 of my batch mates have matched in various IM progs. And just two of them had scores of 250 plus in one of the steps and most of them had 220-240 scores with almost everyone less than 230 in either of the steps. Looking at this forum 230-250 seems like an avg score but I believe its a good range for fetching a handful of IVs. I hope mid October will be exciting for all of us. Good luck all.

Default IV

Hey everyone
I've been reading and I get the feeling people think the invites so far have been just for people with 250+ 260+, that's not true and I'll use myself as an example, this is my first post but I thought it might help.
I have 5 IV's so far and 1 rejection from UofLouisville
My credentials
238/243/CS pass/2014/IMG/7moObsersership/NoPubs/NeedVisa/
In regards to LORs I tailored them according to the program but I had 4 US LORs and 3 LORs from my country all waived.
I don't think a high score is the only key to success to be honest. I hope people who don't have invites will get some soon. Best of luck to everyone.

I haven't check yet. Based on the forums from 2008-2010 they offered pre-match. I don't know if it still legal to participate in match and offer pre-match after new policy "all in one" from NRMP

So far all the IVs are coming form low-mid tier places. I think as October rolls around the programs we are all really waiting for will start looking at IMG applications

To see how US students were doing I looked at there forum.

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/thre...1221990/page-3

So from this It seems they look at them first, if they fill all their interview spots we get rejection letters immediately for example Uni of Louisville.
They are also complaining and worried that their not getting interview but to a lesser degree. Otherwise looking at there list of invites, many of the programs Im looking forward get responses have begun sending IV, albeit not many.
I think this weekend is going to be a big week for us.

Stay calm, we got this!

You don't need to inform programs...Your ECFMG status gets updated and uploaded to programs automatically, so when they review your application, they'll know you're certified.

I,m sorry that I did not include you in that data set, because you need to post where you are invited, at least partially. Also seems like, you have invites because you have connection to the program (LORs specific to program). My intention was to preset people who are getting their Ivs base on credential, not connection. Therefore you are example of person who has "people skills" which is ok, but different category.

Key to success is indeed high score and always was form college to residency, it is also reflection of high IQ, clinical knowledge and future outcomes for patients (search pub about this). I agree it may not be reflection of other skills like team work, empathy etc.

Congrats.
Different programs have different methods of scheduling IV's. Out of my 4 IV's, one used IV broker, 1 used ERAS calendar and the other 2 used their own system.

First of all I don't have any connections whatsoever, what I meant by tailoring my LORs is that the programs usually specify the LORs that they want, in example, some on them require a LOR from the Chair of the Department, some of them want from US physicians who have supervised your, some of them want from faculty at your med school, etc.
Your assumptions based on my post are totally incorrect and I think the purpose of my post is to showcase that you cannot make assumptions based just on scores and "credentials" and the fact that you just went on to assume I have "connections" and "people skills" just because the number of interviews I have and my credentials makes my point even clearer.

Don't fight guys, both are right. Good scores open doors but they are not everything. Some programs may only care about 260s others will focus more on your LORs and personal statements and even some programs won't care about any of these because they only want AMGs. It's easier to do statistics with just step score YOG and visa status and i agree all of these are extremely important, but people skills are important as well because you may get 10 interviews but if they don`t like you as a persona they won`t hire you, or maybe they will because they only care about extremely intelligent residents with amazing scores. Also, on the last match 2000 non us imgs got matched in IM and in this forum we are about a hundred, so you can't really generalize saying that only 260s will get interviews at the end cause that's something you can't predict, because I'm sure many of those 2000 imgs had scores under 250. and you just need 1 interview to get a match at the end, with just one program that really wants you, you'll get a match. i know the more the better but you may have 20 interviews and if you don't put effort on them you won't get a match. That's the beauty of it. I wish you all good luck, congrats to all those rockstars having tons of interviews you deserve them for all you hard work! And i hope everyone of us can get into residency and live our dreams. Peace out

Numbers are evidence, and the numbers I present base on 100 people in this forum, is not generalization about IM match for IMG. I agree 50% of IMG match and it may be 2000 of them. Those who do not match usually have one or 2 IVs.
1. Your scores and year of graduation are number one predictor for getting significant numbers of IVs
2. More than 6 Iv make your chance to match close to 95%

I,m not here for anecdotal stories you are welcome to share, about that you can match with one Ivs or one person has already 4 Iv base on people skills.

For me the most amazing thing about this is that no matter your country of origin, no matter skin of the color, race, religion, sex, LORs, fake research experience done often to get contacts, number of not important abstracts nobody read or publish, not even visa status. Besides score and year of graduation I will give some value to interest in discipline you are applying base on elective rotation (the best in US). My opinion even on small samples is reflected in the recent match data which I encourage you to study.

This is very positive what I present, but some people just do not get this and it is also ok! Good luck to all!

Thank you for sharing this and for taking the time to do these stats. At this point of the interview, season let's stick to the goal of the thread and post only our IVs, rejections, acknowledgements and just questions related to the interview season.

This is really great! I think you can just start to cancel Ivs for community programs.

I received right now an interview invitation at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai St. Lukeís and Mount Sinai West Hospitals (Centers).
Who could give me some information about the program?
I am really surprised...is it a good program?
Thanks

Good programs with establish reputation for IMGs. 95% of the current residents are IMgs with high scores and 5 years graduation. PD new in his position, same for both hospital? is egocentric maniac with obsession for high scores. You can check his profile on linkedIn to get more info.

Usually Nov & Dec months are crucial for interviews but significant number of ivs also take place in January...we can schedule based on options given by program

I mean that, when we receive invitations for interviews, should we schedule them ASAP?

depends...If you are expecting few Ivs from the same region then it is better to schedule them closely...this kind of tactic may save you travel time and money...

Sorry I was't clear enough, what I'm trying to say is: suppose a program send me an invitation on Sept 30, should I select the date of the interview immediately, or it is ok to delay my reply for the invitation?

I guess that's that's the end of September for us (Unless a program from Cali is willing to send something in the coming 30 mins)

So far, 1 IV , 1 RJ and 5 Ack. Still hoping for the best to come in October

See you all next month. Best of luck to all of us

hello guys, i have received invitation to interview in university of Missouri Colombia through invitation broker, when i opened the link, all the dates are filled, so i ended up being waitlisted, but in the email it clearly states that i am invited to the interview not waitlisted, any input is much appreciated.

I think that's rather odd that all the dates would be filled if they offered you an interview. I would go ahead and call the program and clear up the issue!

You're receiving interviews now or you had that yesterday?
Can we know your credentials please?
I am also interested in that program.
