Finally!!!
1st iv from Bridgeport hospital/Yale.

BTW, is it acceptable and understood by programs if you ask for a reschedule / different interview date after confirmation?
And if so, is it usually done by the program coordinator themselves or via a website/forum where candidates look for "swap mates"?
Thanks

"GORDO" ... It's ok if you ask for reschedule, but try to do it ASAP.

In the Bronx region. You see lots of cases - all types, and do lots of work. No in house fellowship (only palliative care fellowship or sth like that). Almost all IMG's. Gives H1b (for those requiring visa). Affiliation with Cornell (don't know how strong the affiliation is though). Large program - Intern year of around 50, including prelim.

That is surprising. You have really good credentials. You should have got a few IVs by now. I dont know this whole process seems weird to me. How many programs did you apply too? And you can cross check whether you assigned your documents in a right way.

This program is weird because it is a community based and invited people with very good credentials

They just answered that they don't sponsor H1b this year and will be offering just J1 for those applicants who need visa.

I am not ECFMG certified yet and have 7 IVs but I do think it matter for some programs, I have received emails from programs specifically asking me my status on ECFMG certification, but most of the programs that require it by application or interview will say so in their application requirements.

I have a few more community ivs ...can't remember where...i ll cancel some and turn up for some ...
Could you post all programs, especially those which are not on my list. I think It will be helpful to know in what programs outstanding IMG has a chance.

I think we do not need to know where you cancel or did not accept invitation, but if you do not mind shearing it it will be also helpful for ranking of those programs for others.

Seems like your SUNY Upstate will be the best program so far. I prepared preliminary rating of programs, but not for all of them. It will require research and time.

I appreciate you are posting your programs. Can you post your step 1 step 2 and year of graduation?

Seems like your Orlando program is University affiliated. Florida for medical field is the new place to be. I,m working on rating, but appreciate feedback from other as well.

I think people we need to teach this nasty program director for St Luke PA some culture!

I,m ranking them the lowest level for nasty rejection letter without even sign name, for lack of empathy. Can you imagine to work with those people for 3 years, they will treat you the same as they letter treat you! I will also suggest we all withdrawn form this program!

Has this year been slower than previous years in terms of interview invites? Can we expect them to pick up next week and on?

You have great credentials. I think you will get Ivs. It is difficult to say why you did not get yet. If there is no red flags, then maybe content of your application was "boring" or to short . In US it is important to include many other activities. How many pages is your application? for you information mine is 15 pages, but I have median scores. It is not only in majority of cases fake research, but clinical experiences, rotations in IM and any other activities supporting your genuine!! interest in IM. You need to present yourself as extraordinary human being you are with exellent scores, some people are very modest and often do not know how to brag about themselves.

I got the rejection letter from them too:

"Thank you for your interest in St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem, PA.
I regret to inform you that, after careful review of your application, you will not be offered an interview. Good luck in the future."

Unless they write individual rejection letters for every applicant, this seems to be very generic. Yes, it lacks explanation... but at least they write the letter. Most of the programs do not even inform you about their decision

Why are they rejecting people with great scores, US experience and GC? Makes no sense. What are they looking for?

This is part of describtion of their program to give you idea what tahy are looking for? PGY-1

On the general medicine teaching service month, the intern takes a long call shift every fourth day. This shift starts at 7:30 am and ends at 7:30 pm. The intern also does a 7 day period of night float where they will work 5 nights in a row from 7:30 pm until 7:30 am and then have two days off before returning to day shift. The intern is excused by 8 am after a morning sign out session with the teaching faculty and other team members. Saturday or Sunday is the designated day off for the intern each week.

On the critical care service, the daily shift starts at 6 am and ends at 6 pm. The intern is assigned to one 16-hour shift per weekend. The intern is off one day in seven. There is 24/7 in house intensivist coverage.

On subspecialty services and electives, the intern does not take call. There is no call on the emergency medicine rotation. On this rotation, the intern works 14, ten-hour shifts per month.

I agree with you that it is disappointing. There is why IMG have to apply to 100+ programs to get the chance to be matched.

Am I the only one here to get an IV from them? Not sure what they saw in my application. Maybe they picked out names out of a hat?

Congrats!
I think they rejected me based on my YOG 2009. But it is ok. It was my very first rejection - life goes on
Good luck on your IV

Question

what do people think about the customary reply. Do we need to do it for every program. Sometimes you get it thru a third party and not a direct email from the program. What then?

I've only replied to emails directly from programs when they had a question for me (like what day what you like to schedule your interview). Did you reply to your Lincoln email?

That's not true. I think the person who said that has solid scores and a good profile and that's probably the reason they are getting their IVs. People rarely have time to read through every detail in ERAS application and if it's too long, they loose interest. This varies obviously with the person reading our applications but from the residents/faculty I had the chance to interact with, short and simple is the way to go.

Prelim is just the first year of residency.
Advantages - 1 year USCE, chance to make a good impression and earn a pgy 2 spot in the same program (if available)
Disadvantages - if you need visa to have to think about the implications the prelim year may have based on your future interests, pgy 2 spots are limited in many places (so even if you perform very well and are offered a postion in categorical track, you will have to repeat the internship)

Okay guys. Quick question. All of you who got an invite from Lincoln, was it through eras? Or was it a direct email? And was the person who sent the email by any chance named Ramona? Because I got a direct email and it seems slightly fishy. Would be great if you guys could help me out.

Hey guys

I just passed my Step 3 exam and I'm wondering if I should be contacting program coordinators informing them this. And if I were to email them, what else should I be mentioning in the email? I don't wanna write anything that might backfire so any input is appreciated.

Thanks

I think you can just recent your usmle transcript to the programs so they can see your step 3 score

Technically it's not an interview cuz they say "OPEN HOUSE" in their email. I think this is the weirdest thing ever. It means they have already ranked you without an interview

Credentials: 234/241/1st attempt/2013 continue clinical experiences/ 2 mo observership/ 3 us LOR 1 chairman home country/3 publications, 8 oral presentations,several leadership positions, need visa.

IV invitations so far 5: Macneal, Saint Barnabas Bronx, Metropolitan NY, LIncoln NY, Brigeport Yale.

Guys, what do you think about the Lincoln open house thing? anybody with a more precise idea? it is going to be very difficult to rank a program without a real interview.

Generally there are 5 levels:

1.Academic top universities for example Pit, NYU
2.Academic middle level for example University of Rochester
3.Community program associate with University for example Bridgeport yale
4.Community program not associate with University but decent
5.Community Program not associate with University where you treated as cheap labor but still you will get your Certificate In IM - pass to your future in America

(my levels with examples are base on the programs in the reach for IMGs base on this forum)

I will also think that you need to have programs from 3 diffident levels just to be on safe side. I hope this was helpful.

If you could prepare list of the programs with full name so far inviting people (imgs) I can rank them for you base on my experience and the best will.

So far only one person with 2 Ivs in the level 1
Could you please give us an example of a level 5 program. I appreciate it, thanks!
