Question Till what date are we supposed to stay in US during interview season?

Hey guys,

Till what date are we supposed to stay in US during the interview season? I’m asking this because I’m planning to come to US by July 2012 on b1b2 visa. So my 6 months stay will expire by Dec 2012. Are interviews conducted in Jan? If so, which option is better for me?

A) Stay till Dec, go to my home country and come back in 1 to 2 wks and stay for rest of the season
B) File an extension of my visa and stay till the end of match season (will there be a problem at port of entry the next time I try come to US?)
C) Go back to my home country before the interview season starts(in Oct) stay for 2 wks and come to US
D) Finish all the IVs by Dec and go to my home country

Please suggest me if anyone has a better option than these.

Most of the IMG interviews are over before Christmas. There might be interviews in January but that's rare.

You can schedule your interviews the way you want. You just call the coordinator and tell her your preferences, I'd say you have 99% chance of gathering all your interviews before January so you won't have a problem with your Visa.

There are interviews in January. Depends on where you apply. How many programs are you applying to, anyway? How many interviews do you think you will have?

I am thinking of applying for about 150 programs. No clear idea about IVs. May be 4-6 (step 1- 231, step 2ck- 237, cs-passed, Giving step 3 in a month, planning to do 1 month USCE)

Looks like you have a pretty good, realistic plan. I've done a lot of research on the programs. Will you share how you've picked your 150 programs to apply for?

Thanks,
Ed

Hi Sabio, my B1/B2 visa expires in September and I will have to extend in order to be able to appear for the interviews (i.e till December). I have a 5 years visa. I have a couple of questions, hope you can help me out.

1) What reason should I give in order to apply for a visa extension?

2) How many months/ weeks before should I apply before?

3) Are there any problems later that I might face due to this extension?

Thanks.
