Arrow Delay in publications- Help needed!!!

I started 2 projects in 2014, I am the first author.
Both of them are going to publish in high impact factor journals, because a journal already contacted me for submission.
I have presented one of them in USA national conference last year. But the problem is it's going to take about 8-10 months to publish them, because usually high impact journals takes time to review and revise paper.

Do you think that I did wrong by getting involved in two big projects? Because I have wasted so much time doing those projects ,I could have publish 5-6 papers or more in the same time?
I am planning for this year's match?

Any comments are welcome.

it does take some time from submitting a paper to a well known journal, review, getting feedback, doing corrections, submitting again, response, getting accepted, and getting it published, but this can take a lot less time if you have some contacts in that journal or if one of your colleagues in the research have already published in same journal, connections do make things easier anywhere in the world
you just have to be able to find the way to put all your work done so far in your ERAS application, maybe "in progress", "submitted", "pending publication" status, etc
be ready to talk about your research during interviews, show passion for the work done, and you will be all set, good luck!

Thanks for reply.

My other question is, if i submit it in july and if editors have not contacted me by15 spetember. Can I still write the name of the journal in ERAS and will that have impact on my application?

Do you have any idea that how to mention cochrane review in ERAS? my cochrane review title has been accepted, protocol is submitted for publication and still under process since a year?

Thanks!
