Default Confused about ERAS: Participating programs vs Non-participating?

Hi,

I'm applying to the Pediatrics match this year. On eras, I see about a total of 197 programs, wit 147 participating. Does that mean we cannot apply to the 'non-participants'? Will they not take any residents this year?

Could someone help clear this out.

Thank you!

Default program status

Programs update their status from non-participating to participating in the next few days. List you see in ERAS is dynamic.

Close to Sept 6th, you would get a final list of participating/non-participating programs.

You can apply to non-participating programs also via ERAS. Several program receive applications via ERAS and do not go through NRMP for match.

There are some other programs which do not participate in ERAS and you need to apply them directly.

Hope it helps.
