Unhappy I will pass the 5 year gradution cut-off!

My name is Sana. I am new to this forum. I graduated 4 years ago. Because of my family issues i couldnt give exams...
i planned to give step 1 last year in October but my father passed away after a long illness.
I live in Canada and couldn't go back. was not able to give exams coz of all the stress.. now ive started prep since 2 months.
But just got to know about the 5 year graduation cutoff.. My graduation date is march so by march 2013
I will be over the 5 year mark.. What should i do?
What are my options? When should i give both exams to maximize my chances? guide me please

The five year since graduation is not a rule or a law.

Yes. There are many residency programs that have this cut-off but it's not impossible to find a residency program that accept older grads.

If you are going to be living in USA or Canada, then I think it's worth it to do the USMLE exams and try to get high scores and then try your luck with the match, it's not impossible.

Check the Old-Grad tag link at the bottom of the thread for applicants like you.
