Question If I apply Sept 4 I would get my score Sept 26

I have a question...if I apply between August 28 and Setember 4 I would get my scores on September 26...
People taking the exam between August 1st and August 8 will also get their score on Sept 26.
If I get my score on Sept 26 how long would it take to receive my ECFMG Certification and when I would apply to ERAS?

How this late application to ERAS will affect my chance of getting an interview?

Thanks in advance!

You can apply in ERAS before you get the ECFMG certificate.

When you get the ECFMG certificate (2-3 weeks after passing all exams provided you have verified your credentials) then you can update the residency programs that you are now ECFMG certified.

Thanks for the response Sabio!

I was in a rush trying to get my study done by the first week of August so I would be able to have the result last week of August, but with the dekays ib the scores release...it would actually make no difference if I take it the first week of Sept...I still will get my scores on the 26 Sept, am I right?

Warning!

Hello Sabio

I am just a little confused here. I always thought for an IMG to apply in ERAS without ECFMG certification would hit the chances for your application to be considered by most PDs. I read once that PDs are blind of non-ECFMG certified IMGs. So, won`t you think it would be better to get certified before application?

And also about late application, I read your post in another thread where you recommended in a similar situation to delay application to Sept 26 saying it won`t affect chances as the start date has been moved to Sept 15. I don`t get it as it`s always advised to apply on day one when it was Sept 1 and I don`t think moving it to Sept 15 would have changed that, or what do you suggest?

Thanks for the replies in advances. I always value your opinion.

Since the ERAS start date has moved to September 15 and since there are not prematches this year, the matching season is much more relaxed than previous year.

Many programs did not even start to download applications.

I would say that up to middle October you are OK to start your application.
