Welcome to the thread. Nope, nothing yet from Interfaith. Curious to know why are you asking specifically for this program. I heard from someone that it's a prematch program. But nobody really knows since this is a newly accredited one.

My concerns were only because it's new and I too have heard that they prematch and well.... Just thought they would be more eager to send out IVs since they are such a new program

For those of us waiting for interviews, do you think it is a good idea to start emailing/contacting programs? In my case I recently passed Step 3 and have been added to two new clinical trials that I will be helping with I am going to add that to my email and attach an updated CV. I don't know if its still early, should I wait a little longer?

Still a bit early to be contacting programs in my opinion.

Even I have same doubt.
In last year forums interviews started from 1st to 2nd week of october but this season people started getting IV's in september. I think trends are changing this year we need to wait and watch

You have great scores, you should be getting interviews. I am wondering if psych is becoming more competitive too? I am just surprised because I am seeing people with lower scores here getting interviews but not so much with people with higher scores? This is not to hate on anyone who has interviews,I am just confused......what are they really looking for? Great LOR's? Good Personal statement? Experience?

Yes, I know two people with very similar marks as me and applied to IM and each already have one interview. However, dont loose hope, Psych seems to send out invites later then IM. This has been the trend year after year. Listen, I have one friend who is IMG, needs visia and applied to psych and already has 9 invites. She has over 250 on both steps and passed all on her first attempt, US electivs which she is doing now..

Psychiatry is competitve because many IMGs apply as back up plan thinking it is easy because people match with lower scores. But the reality is more and more AMGs are going into psych and there arent many programs. Lets just pray all of us on this forum are the lucky few who will match Psych this year. Its posible. It just takes one good interveiw and if you interview goes well and your intrests line up with the program they will feel it. Good luck everyone! I'm still waiting for my first invite too!

usmlerock75, with all your exsperence Im pretty sure you will get a few interviews by the end of interview season.

I wish it were that easy! I had a friend last year with 220's on both Steps, no Attempts, US-IMG, USCE, that only got two psych interveiws and didn't Match. He said last year he applied to 80 psych, 30 FM, 30 IM. Total of 5 invites. He is applying this year ALL IN for only IM and FM.:sc ared:

Psych is definitely becoming more competitive...and I totally get what you're saying, I'm surprised I have as many as I have honestly considering my scores, but I do know that my USCE probably has a lot to do with it, my LORs were from psychiatrists and in my opinion, my personal statement seemed pretty good... but then again, I've also heard that programs don't even look at your LORs or PS until you're sitting in front of them during the interview lol so who knows...But I do know visa status can be a big influencer unfortunately... regardless we should all still be positive and hope for the best!!

Hot Potato,

This program has been on probation bfore and continues to operate on the edge of probation. And you clearly have no idea how many mistakes exhausted residents make every day, and are allowed to continue making them.

Feel free to doubt my intentions, but LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING:

You are a hopeful applicant looking in. I am in this program right now.
I wish someone had spoken out about his or her experience in this forum to help dreamers like you discern where not to go.

If you are lucky to match, you will realize how much self-interest there is in residency programs. Nobody protects anybody. Every man for himself. Nobody speaks for fear of retribution, and seemingly good resident turn into bad apples under the influence of bad attendings. This program has few attending and many are just bad human beings and bad attendings.

Appreciate my input and use it to your advantage. I have NOTHING to gain from warning you. But if you think you know better, go right ahead...

Default CS not on first attempt

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but even the most peripheral programs are starting to become more and more picky about multiple CS attempts.

My experience is that, if you are an AMG with multiple attempts, you still have a chance at matching. If you are a CMG or an IMG, forget it. The reason is that psychiatry has seen a high influx of AMGs in the last two years, and they have precedence over anyone else, even with multiple CS attempts and not so high scores.

It's a reality that was not here a few years back.

Default CS attempts

I don't know why they are so concerned with the CS exam. It is shameful that a failed it the first time, but with all honesty I failed because I did not grow up in the generation that spent their youth infront of a computer. I needed some extra practice typing, I worked on my speed over the year, and was easy to pass the second time around.

MD0622,
I agree with what you are saying. I felt the same way.
Today's reality is that programs receive thousands of applications and use the multiple attempts at the USMLEs as the first screening criterion. Just to give you a perspective, my program last year received more than 1500 applications, 50-60 candidates were selected to be interviewed, and 6 matched.
The numbers are just scary!

Yeah I know! I have no choice but to have hope!
I did not get rejections from
Bergen Regional Medical Center, Summahealth/Northeast Ohio, and Maricopa like many others did, so all can think is maybe they will have a second look at my application.

Bergen rejected only visa applicants so far, at least I think. Last year they sent me rejection on 10/14. So I expect that when they will go through majority of the applicants. Summahealth only accepts recent grads and either AMG or USIMG, not sure if you are USIMG (I was told by one of the psych resident).

Seems to be a slow day so far. Maybe I'll post something for a laugh. I just realized that I mostly applied to blue states. Except Texas, Missouri and Georgia.

Thank you! I considered my LORs to be "strong", they gave examples of me and how i worked, and all 4 were written by psychiatrists.

Yeah, same here I think they send their invitations to AMG first and fill the rest with IMG... I guess we have to be patient and pray... giving the preference to AMG is kind of normal too. The waiting is horrible though. And it's just the beginning!

It seems AMG also didn't received necessarily a lot of invitations yet... Hopefully next week will bring some good news

AMGs have received a lot of interviews by now, especially yesterday and today.

Guys relax it's only October. I know few IMGs who didn't get any interviews until December and then ended up having 5-6 and matched. So let's all start freaking out in December lol it's too soon for it now.

1. Psychiatric....................................... . Categorical
2. Categorical....................................... Categorical

Can someone tell me what the hell does #2 mean ?

We really dont get our invites untill the AMGs are mostly done.. Dont panic if you do not have any invtites. If mid November comes around and you still dont have an invite its time to panic!

Or can it be that all the spots are filled already??

I just wonder what does not hearing at all from programs mean? This silent treatment is the worst of all !! :'(

I sincerely hope & pray that all of us hear something good soon inshAllah Ameen

Somebody told me that >70% of the programs don't even bother sending a refusal letter 😔 But my friends told me also to keep hope, as sometimes we may receive ivs in November if somebody withdraw or something...
All this process is painfully painful to say the least...
