Unfortunately, I applied late because I recently got Step 2 results.
not too hopeful at this point.

It took me half hour to read all the posts. Im sorry if posting my IVs caused these problems. I guess dr.JPRizal is right and I should stop posting my IVs.

Back to my PS, I brainstorm for ideas for two weeks while reading the 200 successful tips for matching. Then I started writing my PS for 2 days(7 days before) and sent them to 4 people(2 of which were ex-chief residents of family medicine programs) to proofread my PS. Then I combined their suggestions and then, tada!

Lets see, I also took internship back in my country like dr.JPRizal did for 1 year hence the delay of another YOG. Hmmm, I guess thats it.

Thanks guys and I am really sure everyone on this thread is getting matched because we are helping each other by giving information and tips to one another.

Ok, so that's some actor in the pic? Because if this is what professional pics should look like, or if this is what the average human being looks like, I think I'll have a hard time concentrating in residency.

Good luck to all participating this year and please don't stop posting IVs, rejections and tips.

Thanks.

I know probably my opinion doesnt matter that much but i think i have something to say about this.

Guys i know and have read the matching topics this year and the year before and people are really freaking out, remember we are doctors, M.D's or whatever the grade is called.. We are supposed to face hardships and we are supposed to resist stressful situations.

Seriously people are so freaking obssesive and some have even stated that they hate the U.S and their shitty selection system.. but guess what, we FMG's have NOTHING to say about it and NOTHING to complain about, they are the bosses and they put the rules, and we have to play by the rules, take it or leave it... Conrad Fischer said in the physiology lectures that the first important thing a PD sees (he is a PD in Jamaica Hospital) is WHAT IS YOUR VISA STATUS, is it unfair? probably yes but thats the way it goes.
Some guys in this topic and in other forums just make me sick, chill the f..k out and learn to have discipline and tolerance and PATIENCE, this is getting nuts, If your fate is to do residency in the states then you will get it, if not it doesnt matter how much you pray, or how much you complain, learn to accept things how they are and move on seriously.

BTW i congratulate ALL who are getting IV's and I wish good luck to others who havent, have faith and have patience.:sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry::sorry ::sorry::sorry::sorry:

Default I had no intention to join this thread but.

some people's comments make me come join this thread ,some people with great credentials and so many interviews at hand already cannot bear some one's else s success. the path to us residency is very long and tiring , but i thought one thing it gave me was some depth in thinking , it some how helped me make a modest human being but some people just can t bear the weight of success . my credentials are
is it okay if i dont post them

USCE;8weeks , 2 US LORS
visa;required
b I applied to 170 programs and i got one interview till now , i feel like luckiest man on earthmay be thats the one i needed , God has his own ways never complain ,just wait for his mercy.
God bless u all

Star carribean IMGs?

Just out of curiosity guys, how many of you are carribean IMGs? As they usually get more IVs than the other IMGs because of their clerkship rotations in the US

very true, i think people should clearly tell their visa status and caribbean graduation, unjustly they are one of the most important thing determining interviews these years , even greater than scores , USCE . It will help others feel comfortable and reason for their rejection.

not needing visa means that they are either permanent residents (GC holders) or US nationals.

schedule an IV on the phone..if they haven't replied to 3 emails, there is a possibility that your emails are going into their spam/junk folder (it does happen sometimes)...

Yes, they can. When they open our profiles on myERAS, the picture is on the top left corner of the form. I have seen it myself.

got an email saying, ''we are sorry we do not offer a prematch this year. inform us if you wanna withdraw/cancel our invitation"
i didnt bother to ask any program about prematches.
i guess somebody pissed them off & they auto-replied to all invited applicants about it.

yeah it was a general mail, sent to all invited applicants for that program. but the note sounded serious enough i went to my "sent items" to check if i sent something & if the PC was talking to me directly.

Dear Intern Candidate:

Thank you for your interest in Geisinger Health System's Internal Medicine

interview. We have had a very large pool of highly qualified applicants, and
so we are interviewing only a fraction of those who applied. Best of luck in
your endeavors.

Calm down man, they offered you a shot, looked at your app and passed. You can not expect all of the programs to invite you for an interview. All the best to you!

3 IVs so far. Happy for those opportunities.

same questions, very easy, you know the answers even before they ask. just wanna know you.
this time i was only a little bit nervous, so my answers are quite okay. but i can't tell if they liked me or not, we all got the same closing remarks - smile and ''thank you & good luck on your other IVs''.
first IV, problem was i got so nervous my answers were crappy & was stuttering. this time its better but i was with 8 AMGs, which i can guess no matter how good my answers were, they would still rank any of those 8 before me.

these are only suggestion/opinions, not hard rules. so you could always give it a try. at least you could get a definite answer & keep you at ease with what you did.

if you got a call & wasn't able to answer them, you definitely have to call them back. they are expecting a return call.
but if you are waiting for a confirmation, call them next week or a week after you have said a preferred IV date.

oh I didn't mean it that way. They emailed me for the interview, I wrote back to them with my preferred dates and scheduled the interview. I meant about the program, any idea how is it? I went through their site, not a single Pakistani resident in the last three years! Mostly Arabs.

i see, got mixed up
if its all arab that is still ok, we are all under "IMGs other than caribb img".. that is still img-friendly IMO, though maybe the PD prefers grads from mid east. can't do anything about that, as it's his call. you just have to come out on top of the rest on the IV & am sure he will consider you.

mention it in PS not in eras accomplishments. i know its a great accomplishment for you (i wud too if i wud have a son) but it is of no importance to the PDs.
or just leave it blank. my 2011-12 also is a gap(just studied for MLE) & i just left it out. some interviewers asked me for it & i explained why but some just don't.

I have alot of gap too , I have been waitressing and bartending for 2 years now since my graduation from medical college. So having a a gap because you had a baby is definitely very reasonable.

i disagree that it would be of no importance to the PDs. If you are upfront and honest about it, then I think it would work in your favour. All the best!

yeah it will surely work in favor if you are honest.
what i meant was having a child is a personal great accomplishment. but if you analyze it in the context of your application for residency, PDs have nothing to gain from you having a child. so it is much appropriate to mention it as an accomplishment in Personal statement rather than as an accomplishment in eras worksheet.

There is a spot in the application where it asks you specifically if you have any gaps in your education. I can't tell you where exactly as I can't access it anymore after submitting it, but that would be the best place to put any type of explanation in my opinion. I think it was in the Miscellaneous tab if I remember correctly.

As for me...3 IVs and 6 rejections. Really hoping for some good news soon.

If there is a gap between Pre-med and medical school, does that count? And if after graduation I've been engaged in working to pay for rent, exams, etc ... is this valid? I'll have a 3 year gap for when I apply. Sucks that I graduated late 2010 (November).

Hey!!

I think of rejections as a stepping point into a great future. No success without getting some rejections. You will definitely get some invites. Just keep your head high and keep praying. Don't let these rejections get to you and destroy your self-esteem.

I received a rejection from a program in my own home state and I was quite taken back by it because it is IMG friendly. On the same day, I got an interview invitation from another program in the same state.

Everything happens for a reason. Failure is part of life.

You will be ok. Many are praying for you.

Dude..you've got great scores. Why are you not getting more IVs. This scares me way too much.

I hope you start getting them soon.
