Default Need advice about ecfmg certification

Hello everyone, been an active reader of these forums since 2013, and can finally say I'm done. My stats are step1 and step 2 ck 260s, cs all 1st attempt, graduate September 5th 2016, 1 USCE subinternship at hospital, 1 publication pending in Elsevier journal, 3 us lors. Also I'm an FMG , requiring j1 or h1b visa

My problem is that I was planning on applying for this next match mostly general surgery and few IM as back up, had all programs chosen, lors uploaded, Ps etc.. but my graduation got delayed therefore couldn't get credentials verified and the certificate on time, just sent the documents for certification called ecfmg told me 10 business day wait, plus 4 weeks to get everything done.

My question is it worth it applying to programs without the certificate and just hope for the best, or wait and apply for programs around Oct-Nov? Thanks for your time reading this and would appreciate any advice or experience.

I would say apply now as your scores and profile is excellent. Very few programs need you to be ECFMG certified before applying and though it would have been ideal to apply with the certificate, applying early seems more sensible (especially cause of your great stats). Most require that you are certified by ROL and seems like you would be by that time. Good luck
