Default USCE Duration

Hi guys, I want to ask about how many months should IMG do USCE to match in the USA residency? What are the minimum duration nowadays? I know there are many threads like this but I think it is already very old and not relevant. Thank you

Most places ask for 3 months, some ask for 6 months, very few (not IMG friendly) ask for 1 year. The more months you do, the better your application looks. Most people do between 3-6 months.

i would say 3-6 months to be on the safe side, 6 months would be awsome tho.

electives (or preferably Sub-I) would be best. if you are unable to do them or obtain one, externship is good. Observership is the last preference but still pretty good for obtaining US lors

Any USCE is better than none.
Sub-I >Clerkships >Observership = Research.

Last one debatable.

you need 4 LoRs to apply for any specialty in residency.
Through 4 electives you can easily gather 4 LoRs required for ERAS applicatio.
