The ECFMG is no longer call it Dean Letter, they want to call it MSPE.
They mentioned this here
http://www.ecfmg.org/eras/applicants...ents-mspe.html

So basically it's the same paper written by your dean but the title should say MSPE instead of Dean Letter.

I personally don't think the ECFMG or residency programs would make a lot of fuss if your paper says Dean Letter because they have recently made this change.

Usually residency programs are not very particular about the Dean letter/MSPE for IMGs and they may sometimes ignore it.
But if they mention it in their website or if they insist on it in ERAS then you have to give them something (though the content does not really matter), it's just a formality, just another paper they want but they don't really read it.

I'd say to be on the safe side, you should have it.

As Sabio mentioned, probably residency programs won't be very particular about this, because the new MSPE rule is recent.

@mustafa, I think you are OK.

@priya1, You don't need the graph stuff, that's for AMGs, very rarely IMGs have detailed MSPE with graph performance, a simple letter from your school saying how was your performance should suffice. You can upload it yourself in OASIS if your school does not participate in EMSWP, if your school participate in EMSWP then they have to do it for you.

The list of medical schools participating in EMSWP is not published in ECFMG so I don't know how you can check it.
The only people who can tell you is your college and if staff that are unaware of it then most probably means that your school does not participate.
Yes. a PDF would be the standard format they accept.

So this mean if my college does not take part in it. I can upload on my own right.

Your school can sent it directly to ERAS support Services at ECFMG, OR
they sent it to you and you can scan and can upload it yourself.
Both ways work.

Default MSPE

I have an MSPE from my dean but the date is not current and it does not have my aamc id. I have it in my posession and will need to mail it directly to ecfmg.

Now how important is it to have my AAMC id on it? The date on it is 2011. Should I request my school for another one?

The only thing is I will have to go through a lot of trouble in trying to acquire a new one. I am an IMG an my school sucks at giving documents.

If its absolutely necessary or something that will get in to the way of receiving interviews I will go ahead and try to get it.

Please advise

Thanks in advance
