Default Need advice regarding US visa for attending residency interviews

Hello Dear all friends,

Hope everything is going well with everyone regarding residency process. I need some advice regarding US visa. Actually, I am a residency applicant for the 2016-2017 season and already applied for residency and got 1 IV so far. I have been to US 2 times in past once on B1/B2 for taking USMLE step 2 CS and Step 3 exams and 2nd-time on J1 research scholar visa from an IVG league university. I came back on time in both of my trips and then I applied again for B1/B2 visa a few days back to do clinical observership and attend interviews (I didn't have any residency IV at that time) but US Embassy rejected my visa. Now what should do next? Should I apply for visa again on the basis of 1 IV or should I wait more so that I can get more interviews and then reapply again? I will highly appreciate for sincere advice.

Thanks.

not sure why the visa was rejected but I am guessing it was related to the J1 research visa? Did the J1 you were sponsored come with the 2 year home residence requirement? Did you get a 10 year multiple entry B1/B2 the first time

Default Thanks for replying

Thanks for replying to my query. Actually, in our country, they issue a maximum of 5 years of visit visa and unfortunately on my first visa approval I got only visit visa for 1 year and that expired last year. As far as J1 visa is concerned I got the 2 years rule on my visa but that I got it waived through US State department because I was not getting any funds from the US or my country's government for the research.

I see. Then I don't see any valid reason why the visa was rejected (just bad luck I guess). You can apply now that you have 1 IV.
