Fire Thread no rejection letter while others are getting it

hi, guys.
The season has been so stressful and slow.
However, I found lots of supports and useful info here
Hope everyone can match to the top 1 program!
I noticed that several programs have already sent out rejection letters while I hear nothing from these specific programs (no IV nor rejection letter).
Shall I email this program for status update?
(I applied on 9/14)

You could. But it won't make any difference. PC or PD are busy folks during interview season and sending them emails asking for updates on your application won't do any good. If you don't start hearing from programs in the next couple of weeks, then you could start contacting programs expressing interest.

Yeah, emailing them won't help. It's still early in the interview season, don't worry

I would like an opinion on this too. Does it mean they didn't even acknowledge my application?

It means the application was filtered out probably and they didn't take a look at it. Sadly that's the way it is.

I wouldn't take any stock in the fact that they didn't send rejection letter.

Thank you all for the kind reply! I appreciate each of them. For some people who share the same concern with me, this is what I found on another forum,

"most programs don't bother sending out rejection letters. If they invite 500 people and for whatever reason, 250 decline, they can just dip right back into their pool and find replacements. would be harder to do if they rejected them. (thats just my theory) its not uncommon to not hear anything though."

"I say, call or email programs that you are interested in and express this interest. Also, in the same phone call or email, politely ask about the status of your application. Many times, if they haven't invited you for an interview, they will say that you are "on hold" or waitlist or that the committee/PD is/are still looking into your application and will probably give you some timeline. I always think that an answer (even a rejection or placed on hold) is better than no answer at all. Good luck."

Star Consider waiting

It is really early in the interview season, most programs are just getting the interview invites out. I would just hold on for a few more weeks. E-mailing the program director not likely will help much, because she/he is likely being bombarded daily with emails all around the country. Main point - It is still early.

However don't loose focus, I could continue to build your application. Work on getting published papers/abstracts, volunteer experience. Things you could talk about on the interview trail.

I'm nearly certain they do not reject people if their application has not been reviewed yet.

Not having a rejection in your inbox means one of two things either they haven't reviewed your application yet or you are on a theoretical wait-list so to speak for interview.

Actually, lot of programs use filters. If you're application is filtered out, they won't even look at your application and most probably won't receive a rejection as well. Sadly that's true for most programs.

Thanks, everybody for the reply! You guys are so nice I would like to share my opinion on this issue based on my experience so far:
1. Filter: I got rejection letter on 9/15 9:30 AM from a program. I guess they use filter. 2. I wrote to some of the programs where I did not get the rejection letters while others did. so far I got two replies: one saying my application is still under review. The other saying my application is on the waitlist. 3. I asked one of the famous match book authors about this issue. The author said mostly likely my application is on the waitlist.
