I 've heard that the LORs should preferably carry a date from last 6 months. You can just produce the existing LORs and ask them to issue you a new one with a fresh date, with the same content.
Hope that helps.

I have an old LOR of 2011 ........ i find it strange how should i ask my attending on writing a LOR of 2012 when i did the Elective in 2011 ????

will not attendings insist on writing dates when they originally wrote the LOR or when we did the Elective ?????

And how does changing the date on the LOR help ??? as my CV will show that my Elective was done in 2011 .......

any ideas guys and forum staff ????

thanks

What i did is ask for the LOR in 2011 and they wrote it then and saved it, and then i contacted them this year, and now they are sending them with fresh dates. You can contact them and ask them for new dates, or you can use them as they are now, it's not that big of a deal, but a new one is better than an old one, but what is more important is what is written on the letter, the letterhead, and the person it came from.
