I'm surprised you didn't match. Your credentials are pretty good. What were you applying for? How many programs did you apply to?

Hang in there. Just re-apply. Your credentials are way better than many out there that do match.

How many program you applied last time?
According to people who gave me information we should apply to at least 100-150 programs and all variety of programs from university hospital to university affiliated to community hospitals to increase our chances.
Your score are nice but I think u should get more USCE.
Not experienced with this. Just safe recommendations from people.
Anyways which residency you are applying for?

Thank you guys for your kind words , I highly appreciate it !

Well , I applied to 100 IM programs , but I applied in mid September last year with a pending CS score !

It is just it seems really really hard ...and I keep hearing all kinds of crazy scores ranging from 255 and above !

I managed to do only one month of electives because it was particularly hard for me to get a visa !

Thanx again ..u guys are great !

Default Need more LORs

The biggest reason u didn't get interviews is that you only have one LOR. 99.9% of the programs require minimum of 3 LORs, so all those programs filtered out your application because you did not meet their basic requirements. Best thing for you, arrange for more hands-on USCE (not observerships or research) and get atleast 2 more LORs from US physicians.
gL to you.

Hi.
I am an IMG, old graduate. I had 225/214/CS second attempt, 2 US LORs,one from an observership, other one from externship, both in private offices.
I applied on end of October, waited till one of the LORs and ECFMG be ready. That was my mistake perhaps, as even if I chose programs with deadlines in December, January or late November, I guess they had filled already their interview slots limit by that time and i wasn't that outstanding applicant to make an exception for me. I was able to apply to not more than 60 something programs both in FM and IM, but I guess I shouldn't coz there was no interview invitation at all. But it was some experience for me to make it easier this year. Desperately tried to take step 3 before this September, but it seems to have better scores I need to take it not earlier than October this year, with my shortage of time because of busy work.
An acquaintance of mine with higher scores, was 6 years from graduation but next year from graduation second residency training in home country when he matched IM, with 250+ scores, SC second attempt and none US LORS. All LORs from home country. But managed to match, almost 4 years ago.
So I guess there are not strict correlations, application in a whole should be strong and applied earlier.
Hope to have several interviews this year.
Good luck to all of us.

Hi Sem 4, thanks for your valuable suggestions, so what you mean to say is early applications is better than late (complete) applications to score an interview place, right? In my case I won't be having my step 2 CK score till the mid October. But then I am thinking of applying on September with the scores I have.

Hi Highlander.

Yes what I meant was applying early seems to be more efficient than late, because slots are filled early. But I wouldn't recommend you to apply without CK, very few programs let you don't have CK or step 1 at the time of applying, many accept applications with CS having in mind at the time of interviewing or rank day, but very few, if any consider applications without CK.
Good luck to you anyway. If you are a fresh graduate I would suggest to apply next year, having both CS and CK ready, and Step 3 at least on the way.
Good luck.
