Certificate USMLE Transcript in ERAS

Hi guys!

I have a question about USMLE transcripts.. Is it mandatory or optional to request them in MYERAS to apply for a match?
I asked a few of my seniors and they told me they did not request the transcripts when they applied for match last year, but some of them also did order them..
So now I am confused .. should I order them or not?? does it make a huge difference if I dont order them.. and if I dont how are my scores reported to the programs?

You have to give permission in ERAS to release your USMLE transcripts to residency programs.

On September 15th, you will have to pay $60 (one time fee) to get the transcript available in your ERAS.

Then whenever you apply to any program you have to make your transcript available to each and every program you apply for.

It's optional, but if you don't make your transcript available, nobody will send you for interview.

I think you mean the automatic release of transcripts, because you can release manually to each to each program your transcripts, and you can do it automatically also.

What he means is that you can choose how you want the transcripts to be released to programs. You can choose the automatic option, where every program you apply to will get a copy of transcript...
or u can choose the manual one where every time you apply to a program, you will see an option--> if u want to release the transcript to that program..
U can choose which programs get the transcript and which programs do not..

SO if you realize it automatically, you will be charged 60$ but if you do it manually it is free?? Then why people don't do it manually, doesn't make sense??

Oh no.. U pay them 60 dollars either way.. U pay them to request transcript release to MYERAS..
This option is concerned with how to want the transcript release from MYERAS to the program. This comes after you pay them the money and it is uploaded in MYERAS..
