Question Should I wait for LoR upload?

i have a dilemma. i'll be done with my rotation this sept 17 and with it my 3rd lor. it will probably be uploaded to eras 1-2weeks after sept 15, so i want to know if it would affect my chances if i were to apply on the 3rd or 4th week of september.
or can i finalize in advance the 3rd lor, certify/submit my eras & apply to programs on sept 15? wud that lor still be uploaded to eras? rules said you can't change anything in eras once you certify/submit it..

need answer or links. thanks.

Even if you finalize the LoR, it won't be available in ADTS until it's received by ECFMG and uploaded. This means that programs won't see your LoR. This means that they'll consider your application deficient and most likely filter you out.

I'd suggest you wait until the application is complete.

Question;
Which is better
A) Early deficient application
B) Late complete application

My personal choice is B

thanks for the reply steptaker.
i see. totally agree w/ your choice.
i also want to know about my chances if will it be crippled that badly coz i have an extra IM lor. i could use it as my 3rd lor & apply on time. i've read a post somewhere here that it would cut down chance by 50%. that's very big considering the 40% match rate of imgs.
i want to apply FM too (got only ave-below ave score & just the USCE), thats why im cramming up for this FM rotation & lor. as most programs require 1 lor & rotation in FM.

wanna ask for your choice again:
which is better:
a) early IM complete application
b) (1-2wks) late IM & FM complete application

I did not get that!

Are you ready for IM application on September 15? If so then apply to IM.

If you are not ready for FM application until later then wait until you are ready and apply for FM later, you don't need to wait until both are ready.

In your ERAS application mention about the last FM rotation you are doing and say the end date as (current). Then certify and submit. Then apply to IM programs on September 15.

When you get your final FM LoR in ERAS, start applying to FM programs.

My husband is doing this also, hes going for FM on 15th IM on oct 3rd. dont stress, 12 month USCE or Carib Graduates is diffinitve match.. I have never seen a Caribbean graduate who did not match.

Once again Carib-IMG friendly does not mean IMG friendly.

I have a similar situation and I called ERAS today. Was told that I can apply on the 15th and once the LOR becomes available it will automatically be sent to the program assigned to.

Hope that helps.

that's not up to eras to say.. even if they sent it to the program, the PD or screening committee might have already put one's application aside as incomplete and put away along with other filtered applications.
that's what worries me.

"that's not up to eras to say" Really? And its upto you to say?

Well, I am not going to dispute what they told me. The question is will your application suffer? If you look at program websites you will realize that most residency programs usually begin downloading applications in October. IMO, an incomplete application at that point may run the risk of being filtered out.

its not up to me either. its up to the PDs.
hey no need to be upset, am not disputing on what you said, am just saying its not up to eras for our application to be considered. they just upload, PDs decide.

yeah totally agree with you. as long as we can submit it before october, IMO we are still good.
