Smile all forum GURUs, ur advice plz

Step 1 : 228
Step 2CS : Passed (2nd attempt)
Step 2 CK : yet to take (will most probably get the result on sep 26th)

when exactly will I be ECFMG certified ? If its in 1-2 days time, then do you think I should wait for it n then apply on 28th Sep. (Or) even with the CS attempt do u think I should apply on Sep15 th ? In that case Will the CS attempt tamper my slightly above avg. score of 228 n reduce the I.V. chances if any ?
---------------
YOG : sep 2010 (experience -- volunteer n work in IM at home country)-- IMG (require visa)

USCE : 2 months ... 1 month Obs + 1 month Clerkship in 2010 ! Have an excellent IM LOR + average IM LOR + 1 waived IM LOR (clerkship) (mostly will be a good one if not an excellent one, I am told)
----------------
Interests/ would like to apply to --- IM n Neurology (Have no LOR from Neuro though )
----------------
My plan is to apply to University n University affiliated programs on Sep 15 th (as most of them do not mind not having an ECFMG certificate at the time of application compared to community programs) and apply to all community programs (IM) after I get ECFMG certified on Sep 27/28 ! roughly around 150 - 180 programs in total after I am certified.

I would be grateful if you guys can guide me here ... I Know I need to do well in CK too (which is my priority as of now), but do let me know my chances and how I should proceed frm here on ... Thanks ! :sorry:

apply with a complete package since you have an attempt in CS. Sorry to be the messenger of bad news, but that fail in CS will cost you some programs, specially a majority of university programs. If you failed your step is understandable but CS is like a hug red flag, also you need Visa. I hope you LOR you wiaved explains how excellent your communication skills you have. 2 month USCE is nothing, you need at least 6 month to make up for your CS. WIth a complete package you can apply to around 130 Programs, mostly community so you should aim to apply to all preliminary and transitional also

@Shima thanks ... do u think transitional year is easier than prelim/categ to get into ? As I have seen some programs mentioning USCE of min. 6 months for a transitional year position which did not make any sense to me , cuz if an IMG wants a transitional year then mostly he/she would show it as a 1yr USCE to get into a categ. program of choice and to ask 6 months of USCE for it

also do u think I should mention about my CS attempt in my PS and give a reason why I failed in the 1st attempt ?

Ooh I see, there is something called Carib-IMG they do 6-24 month of USCE in USA> apply to the ones with 2 month USCE. Your CS attempt will be talked about in the interview for sure. Make sure you have an excellent communication skill and your fine. Yes mention it, but in one line, no more, dont go over one line. a fast mention thats it. is the elephant in the room
