Question Requirement of a chair's letter..?

Hi guys,
When I was researching on the programs I found around 13-15 progs requiring a chair's letter. Unfortunately the head of department in my med school is only giving a below average letter that is almost worthless as an LOR. It would be a waste of an LOR slot to use that letter. So I was wondering how rigid are these programs about this requirement.. Some help would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same question. Does anyone know how we can work across this?

The programs who list their criteria's are pretty much firm on whatever they have listed unless you have some links within programs.Letters from Chair's though more valid in Context with american experience, also holds somewhat in IMG's case too.

hi, i did not get one either.
i think it depends on how much you like a prog, i applied to very few of these progs because the letter may be a filter and don't wanna waste money. actually i think its a very stringent requirement for university progs that only makes sense. Best thing to do will be to call the progs and find out. there are many others that dont require one

Hi Gaur,

I have the same concern. I was wondering if you could share with me those programs that require the chairs's letter. I will be very thankful to you for it. I am aware that SLU and Wash U in St. Louis requires it.

My email is colossalshais@gmail.com

Thanks a lot
