Help Low score and late application help

Hello, I need some guidance. Here's my stats
IMG from carib school
Step 1: 191/77 (first try)
Step 2ck: pending
Step 2cs: passed (first try)
2 years clinical experience at US hospital
3 US LORs
Applying to psych and FM

I'm planning on applying for match 2013 . However, my step 1 score is very low so I have to do really well on step 2 ck. I won't be taking it until end of September so probably won't get my scores until end of October. I just want to know what my chances are for this match and how applying late will affect my application? Should I wait until I get my step 2 ck to apply?

Prob is FM progs send out IVs earlier than most. In my opinion, since you are a Carib student, you are better off making up your own prog list, applying now at least to some, and adding more after your CK. Thats what I did, though my own CK comes out next week, so slightly different. For what its what, havent gotten rejections yet, incl progs that have started sending out rejections. I really went though though and selected the ones I felt I had the best chance at, and I'll add more after next wed.
Plus psych progs arent big on usmle scores, so why wait till end of oct to apply to them??????

Thanks for reply. What was your step 1 score? I want my ck so I can show that I do know actually my stuff. I just couldn't imagine a program incluing psych giving me an interview with only 191 on my step. There will be 100s of other apps who have a better step 1 score plus a step 2. Also, I'm waiting for a letter to get uploaded from a psych program director who really liked me so it should be pretty good.

This will be true.

I suggest waiting. When exactly are you expecting your score?

I'd rather apply late then have my application tossed due to no CK score or put on "hold", which essentially means chances of an IV will be slim.

I hope you've made up a list where you've met the Step 1 requirements, otherwise your application will be filtered anyways. According to a few rejection emails posted on other websites, this year the trend seems to be around the 203 mark.

Probably end of October. What do you mean by 203? For what specialty?

That was for family, sorry should have specified.

End of october is a bad time imo, but I'd still apply late.
