I searched this topic, and found in this forum the most voted book was: The residency interview.

Got the book, and my opinion: what a waste of my time and money! I even payed extra to get it mailed faster. I could get more information on a blog.

I was very excited and had good expectations for the book. But it is obvious that the author can not give you all the advice necessary as she works for a company that coaches clients. There are some good tips, but nothing I had not found over the web before.

my honest opinion: if you have less than 4 invites, i suggest doing a live course. if >5, you can do with out.

my experience: the questions are easy, you already know the answers. some answers have already been written in your PS or eras application. (why medicine, why this specialty, why IM, etc.) the only hard part is keeping calm & answering it in a confident way.

i just wasted 1 program bcoz i was so nervous & jittery, thus my answers barely make sense & coz i was stuttering. another mistake i made was i wrote & memorized a script, which i could barely recall bcoz i was nervous. that's why i'm suggesting for a live course if you have few invites so as not to waste everyone of them.

my 2nd IV was ok coz i was calm but still a little bit nervous. i think my answers were decent but not totally awesome. also i did not memorize any script, i just did a self-reflection & been thinking the day before of what to answer. that's why if you have several IVs, by the 3rd time you will do great bcoz of the previous IV experience.

hope this helps.

i couldn't schedule them no later than november as their available dates are oct-nov.. those 2 programs are quite competitive for an img, first was mostly filled by caribb & second was filled by mostly AMGs. i am hoping to get interviewed by a program with a lot IMGs so less competitive, as they would always rank AMGs high over us IMGs.

don't know, but those programs i did were mostly filled with caribb img & amgs. they said their iv period ends in december only.
yeah that is the right thing, scheduling your top choices in the later part than others..
