Unhappy Step 2 CS result delayed by one more week !!

Hello everyone,
I applied through eras about 10 days ago in the hopes of getting my CS result on october 3rd and that way i ll have my application complete by then !
However the USMLE has just released news that it will delay the score reporting for step2 cs by an additional week !!
How will this affect my application ?!
Are there many others on the same boat ?!
And are PDs aware of this delay and will they take it into consideration ?!!
THIS ABSOLUTELY SUCKS !
ANY ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED GUYS !

Thumbs Up

Mostly PDs are aware of delays in score reports and many programs wait before release of scores/results......but some don't. IMO there is mixed chance, but I think you are not too late,I mean its gonna be just 2nd week of October....so best of luck and keep your spirits high.

Default It is not nice

For me,I even didn't apply till now
I was waiting cs result to send the whole application
So should I apply next year and save money?
Another word I just wonder
How will be the feeling of someone who took the exam by 17 June and nearly after 4 months, you tell him: sorry you failed as your language was bad
But this is life ;(

Hey alanine40,I will suggest you to stay positive.I think you may like to wait for your result and hopefully you shall pass CS,then you should apply especially if you have USCE.Waiting for next year wont be advisable in this scenario...........but yes if God forbids your result is otherwise then you should apply next year.......but as I said being positive is the best thing as nothing is in your hands and you have done your best. Its matter of another week.Stay calm, all the best.

I am telling that not only for me but for others
After they make everything harder and harder specially for IMGs
I begin to believe that IMGs should not rely on usmle as their first choice in their lives
Make it the second way and always have a backup in your life

Alanine40.....the deadline for half the programs is Oct. 31 and the rest is Nov. 31. Just relax, you will be fine. Make sure you apply this year.

I am in the same boat. I was waiting for my result to come out today so I can start applying. Now I dont know if I should wait till the 10th or send in my application already. I know if I wait another week I will have a complete application which looks a lot better.

If there is someone out there that can throw some advice my way...apply now anyways without CS, or wait a week and then apply with CS?????

We're not late....I don't understand why people have this misconception.

There's a reason why there's a deadline. If you have a competitive application and the program likes you they will call you for an interview regardless if you applied Sept. 15 or Oct. 29.

Hi guys,
I'm in the same boat as you. When I found out they had moved the reporting date of CS I became angry. I mean I did this test on June 21...
Anyway, I applied to a couple of programs today. I don't know if this was a good strategy or not, but I searched through the websites of my selected programs and found that some were a bit more relaxed in their application criteria. For instance Jackson Memorial requires international applicants to "have taken or applied to take usmle step 2 cs at the time of application to the residency program", but they do not mention that they need the results by the time of application. Or St Joseph in Chicago says that they review applications even if incomplete, but they give interviews until the application is complete. So I said what the heck and applied to these programs.
I also looked into what usmle transcripts include, and it appears they include your history of any examinations for which no results were reported. So I guess they will see we already took CS but the result has not been reported, though i'm not 100% sure. I emailed them yesterday but haven't received a response.
So that is what I did. I'm still waiting for Oct. 10 to apply to most programs though. I wish you guys good luck, I know its hard to depend on the results of this test even when we have everything else ready. Many of us are in the same situation.

I spoke to a couple of friends already in residency today. Basically the consensus was that if you apply with an incomplete application you will get filtered out by a lot of programs, even programs that would have considered you if you had a complete application. It's better to apply a little late, but with a complete application cuz at least that way you won't get filtered out based upon an incomplete application.

Default When will be my result for CS?

I took my exam on 14th august.

Can you tell when my result will be available?

Is it typical that I will have my result on 10th October 2012?

Or is it the 3rd Wednesday of October 2012 reporting period.

There are a lot of us in the same situation... i think when the cs result was originally scheduled on october 3rd, it was ok and acceptable ... thats why i applied to the match and put in about 60 categorical programs... But the fact that they delayed it one more week just pissed me off !! It is completely unacceptable that the result of an exam takes more than 3 months to come out ... We can only hope that programs are aware of this CS situation ...

Program directors will be aware of this delay. There are a lot of people in the same situation. I don't think it's too much to worry about although it is definitely a nuisance.
