Question How effective are Second Look Visits?

How effective are second look visits to a program that you have interviewed at?

if you get them, is good, but dont be upset if you dont, since this year programs are packed till mid feb

From the results of the 2012 NRMP program director survey, they're not really important for most specialties. In fact this is usually near the bottom of the list on what influence's a PDs choice of candidates. There are another around 20 things that are more influential.

By definition, Second Look Visits are not designed to increase your chances of matching in that program.

They are however very effective in helping you decide whether you should rank that program high or not? and also very effective in telling the PD that you are super interested in them.
