Info Participating in Clinical Research Trial

Guys,

Are there certain kind of rules one should follow to get into a clinical research study or clinical trial?
for example, does it have to be for certain amount of time? does it have to be in a university health system, or still can be done at private hospital?
should the clinical trial ends in some publication or only participation matters?

I would appreciate your response guys. I am about to start volunteering in some clinical research and wanted to know some details.

kind regards to everyone.

since you are only volunteering & not the PI per se, IMO it doesn't matter if it gets published or not. what PDs gauge is your work ethic, your effort to be active clinically in medicine & not the publication itself. i know some1 who just volunteered to be a helping-hand in IM dep't yet got prematch bcoz they saw a hardworking & dependable person.
when you volunteer for research, usually your position is just data entry/collector, so your not totally involved with defending it or presenting it. not unless it is your research personally, then getting published is a very good thing & it really helps.

Your aim should be getting a publication with your name on the author list but as Dr. JPRizal said, everything carries weightage even just helping around.

For your other questions, it depends on the type of research. Research may be limited by time, e.g. in a study where you are looking for a survival rate. It may be limited to a university health system when you need facilities that are not found elsewhere. However research does not necessarily have to be in a university, it can even be done in the community or clinics.
