Default Research only helpful when clinicalt?

Is research always relevant, like even if it's on animals etc. in the lab and not clinical research?

I have an opportunity to do some in radiology, which is the specialty I wish to apply for, and the research involves interventional procedures on lab animals, so I am a bit confused as to whether this would be helpful or not.

Why wouldn't it? Every medical breakthrough these days starts from animal testing. So don't worry n go ahead with it.
