Not sure if you are still looking for help in interview preparation. I've heard good things about http://www.residencymatters.com

Take a look and see if that suits your needs. Based on personal feedback from a close friend, it worked out well for her and she matched at an IM program in NY last year.

Good luck with your residency interview!

Thank you letminwillya for the mention. By the way, clever name ..isn't that what all applicants are saying while going through the residency application and interview process?

Regardless of whether one chooses to use an interview preparation service, I would emphasize that practice as much as you can and don't go into an interview hoping that you can come up with answers on the spot.

If you can think of a question, then you must know how to answer it very well.

Let me elaborate, if you know that you might be asked about a time when you had to deal with conflict? You should have the details figured out ahead of time. Why was it a conflict?
What was going through your mind when you were trying to figure out how to resolve it?
Did you initially fail because your approach was not working?
Did you then have to adjust to come up with a better approach that finally worked?

See that makes it interesting and adds little bit of spice to pretty common question.

Residency interview is similar in a lot of ways to a job interview but at the same time it has unique aspects that make it more challenging.

For example, in a job interview, if you are not selected, you can keep applying to other companies until you finally land the job. In the case of residency interviews, you can only apply during a limited period and if your interviews don't result in a match, you have to wait for a whole year. It's that interval between application seasons that makes it much harder but that's how the process is setup.

With each passing year, the match becomes increasingly competitive and your YOG (Year of Graduation) goes up!

Wish you all great success this match season.

Take care and best regards!
