Probability Chances of matching in 2015

Hi

im currently a student in Pakistan and I plan on completing both step 1 and step 2 ck and cs before my graduation in 2014 ... I am a non US citizen and I don't have a green card either ... I just wanted to ask what are my chances of getting a residency for the 2015 match since I've heard an increased number of AMGs graduating by that year match... and what measures should I take to ensure I get a residency eventually

Anything is possible and I would say as always it depends on your step scores. If you score really really well you will have more opportunities if you score poorly you will have less. Good luck and get some great scores!!!

I am also a prefinal year student from India, done with step 1 with 213..and will enroll for 2016 match as my yog will be 2014..Nothing can be done if you were born 2 years late..its not our fault..Trying hard to do much better in step 2 Ck and CS and probably give Step 3 and apply for peds match..The article in JAMA never said it will stop taking IMGs..IMGs will be starting to phase out from 2015..That being said one can always see that that article took residency spots constant. Most AMGs never and will never prefer primary care however large they swell in number bcoz simply the lifestyle and salary of primary care physicians dont attract AMGs..There will be more clogging in surgery and other competetive specalities bcoz government of america surely have not took a bond from these new med school IMGs that they have to go in primary care..Competetion will increase for IMGs and its getting tough every year but all said and done 2015 is the doomsday for IMG will be a misconception..Doing USCE,research and creating contacts will be important too and probably visa status will be given more importance.but nothing is impossible if one takes the long road of endurance..as with USMLE,one phrase that always my seniors tell me :Try and try and eventually you will succeed.Take the steps well and we hope we all match whether its 2015 or 2020.Gud luck

I agree, you have the right attitude. I would suggest a stronger step 2 performance since you are below the average on step 1 by a fair amount. A high step 2ck score and passing Cs exam on the first shot will help you tremendously. If you do well on both of those exams you will match much sooner. Even primary care will still be more competitive as more schools open up and more students compete for the spot. Study hard and get a high CK score!!! You will do great good luck.

I so agree with you that my score is below average and thats why i will only apply to peds where some seniors of mine got around 6-7 ivs after scores in 210s..and yeah am working real hard to score much much better than step 1..Am trying hard for electives now and probably with spend sometime in research so it will be no sooner than 2016 match and thanks a lot, a ton actually for showing the right path..you are the people who still makes IMGs look up to for hope..Gud luck with your Match

failing once is bad, twice is very bad, but is not over.

take falcon reviews, than try to score over 250+. do not take the test you are ready.

also know this, this road might not end with you getting residency if you have any other red flags.
as of now the competition is huge. IMG with 224+ on exams and some with even 240+/260+.
You will get filtered out by majority of the programs. but if you get 250+ on both exams and pass step 3 you will have some chance.

I am sorry to tell you this, but as of now your chance is close to ZERO.
