Question does the interview day make a difference in ranking applicant

can the program director or interviewer throw someone application away after interviewing him
can also that interview day make him in a better position
i know it may affect the acceptance of an applicant, but the percent of the effect of the performance on the interview day on the whole process of matching
how they rule in or rule out applicants during interview day

In my opinion, the interview is the most important aspect. It is the time when they get to know us applicants and determine if we are fit for their programs.
So yeah, I imagine that if for some reason they think that we won't be a good fit, they might discard us.

But then again, every program has different criteria and approach to this whole process.

yes, interview day is the other half of the battle. being invited is the first half.

in terms of deciding w/ ranking, it varies by program. some programs discuss immediately at the end of each interview day which is which among the interviewees is to be rank. and some programs just score/rate you during the interview & jot down notes about your answers, which is then filed & reviewed altogether at the end of the IV season. something like a meeting in last week of jan or 1st week in feb, for final applicant review, selection & ranking.

the former, i just knew because it so happen that i wanted to say goodbye & thank you to the PD & almost went into his rum after knocking. luckily, a resident stopped me & said am not allowed inside coz the faculties are discussing about us (interviewees) w/c ones to be ranked. ddnt knew to be that soon. the latter, a faculty discussed to me about how they do the ranking & he even answered that 2nd looks doesn't affect an applicants chances. during the final review process, they only discuss what's written on the file & the feedback from other interviewers.

They really like u
I think they r expert in playing with ur mind
So i dont know what to expect
I think the only guarantee is the prematch or match itself

yes some IVs i did, i actually had experienced (about 2-3x) being told that they like me.
but a classmate of mine who already matched last yr advised me - "talk is cheap". dont interpret it as something 100%. for all you know, they tell all interviewees/everybody they liked him or her. bcoz programs also don't want to go unfilled & have to go thru the hassle of going over piles of applications again. so hearing things like that is not a guarantee..

yes prematch is still the best.

also i noticed all the faculty seems to be nice everywhere you interview. are all the faculties that nice all around US? maybe, but i don't think so.lol IMO i think they're nice bcoz we are still interviewing. but they bcome something else when we become their residents. i agree that they're really gud playing w/ our mind.:s
