Might as well post, this might help out other people on the forum instead of just your company

- 13 invitations (all IM), but canceled 3
- Applied to 87 well-selected IM programs in 20-22 states, received invitations from programs in NY, NJ, FL, CT, AZ, TX, MD (9 of these were university programs and 4 were university-affiliated
- USMLEs 253/270+, ECFMG certified at time of application, Step 3 taken but just recently
- YOG 2011
- no hands-on
- no research
- need visa (J1)
- 5 months observership
- 3 US letters, one of them from a classroom elective (not clinical)
- no help from companies or advisors. I wrote and revised my PS and CV myself
- applied Sept 15th
- important additional aspects of my application:
  • no gaps
  • I work in medical education and have a lot of teaching/academic experience
  • my US LORs are actually very good
  • I am Hispanic and speak perfect English and Spanish (big bonus to certain programs who invited me, but some of them did not care at all)

Thank you for sharing quique2.

Impressive, 13 interview invitations. The odds are definitely in your favor for this years MATCH.

Would you provide us with the name of your medical school and keep us posted on the residency programs that accept you?

Once in residency, it would also benefit many medical students and graduates in this forum if you can reveal your name and keep them posted on your everyday residency rotations.

I strongly agree with many of the measures that you took specially "no gaps"

Best - victor

I'll give general information but here it goes..

US Citizen - Caribbean IMG
Total Residency Interview invitations per specialty - 6 medicine, 3 med/psych
City and State of Residency Interview - Allover the country
Total applications submitted per specialty - I think 85 for medicine and 8 for med/psych
USMLE scores - mid 220s, all first attempts, no step 3
all my experience has been in US. 20 months
no observer-ships
no research
4 LORs from US Docs. All very good letters. 1 from PD
No revisions in application
Application submitted September 27th, but without CK or CS. Received CS in December and CK late October.
No gaps in my med school career.
