Illinois State of IL [Licensure Delays 12 month] be aware

it clearly states that graduating students who seek a match in an Illinois hospital will also face the same delays of 12-18 months...this applies to both AMG's and IMG's...

Sorry to tell the bad news , but keep your heads up and change those ROL

I called them up and they said that most likely the problem will be fixed in the near future before the start of residencies.

this issue has started a year ago, but my classmates didn't seem to have problems starting last year in chicago. yes, there will be delay but IMO if one gets matched, he/she would still start.

remember, a match is a binding contract for both applicant & program so the program wud do everything they can so you cud start or else it's lawsuit time.lol plus if there wud be no residents, the whole IM dept of training hosps would be jeopardized.

i have also read from the other forums that the PDs told the applicants they cud still start & never to worry they can handle it.

we've been through a lot of stress already, we need to just chill & relax, so hope this helps.

the letter clearly states " effective Jan 15'2013", how could it be the problem for last year? they have laid off people "this year"!

learning & expertise wise, all programs are the same basically or else ACGME won't give them accreditation. (PD told me this) no matter how reputable the program but if one doesn't study, still he/she wud fail the american board licensure. that's why go with your gut feeling - were you feel you wud be happy & comfortable for the next 3yrs.

don't have idea about st joseph, but advocate masonic is nationally ranked recently as a good hosp (not specifically the residency).
