Question Perfect resume to get matched!

I would like to know what are the things that help you get matched in interviews....high score is one factor right? then what....I don't have a green that doesn't help

I have heard a little about observership and externship, so in short how should a perfect resume be in order to increase your chances of matching?

The perfect profile would be:

  • AMG (IMGs have less chances)
  • Visa issues (those who need visa have less chances)
  • Fresh graduate (no cutoff, the fresher you are the better your chances)
  • High USMLE scores, all passed from first attempt (no numbers, the higher score the higher chances)
  • 3 US LoRs by great institutions (note that I did not say great authors)
  • USCE electives better than externships which in turn better than observership
  • Publications in Pubmed journals
  • Research experiences (clinical or bench, both are good, specifically for University programs)
  • Scholarly experiences (like conference posters and oral talks)
  • Great volunteering experiences (e.g if you did "doctors without borders" your chances triple)
  • Connections with insiders in residency programs (if an influential person in the programs wants you in, then you'll be in no matter what)
  • Wonderfully written personal statement (do not underestimate the importance of this)
  • Superb interview performance (this will make it or break it, candidates with fluent English and nice personalities are preferred by all programs)
