I am not that familiar with peds programs, but just going by names.
UT southwestern and SUNY downstate are easy 1 and 2.
The rest can be interchangeable depending on your preferences. If you really like a combined med/peds program, then you can put Hurley higher, otherwise its fine.

The NRMP's best advice for creating your rank order list:

Ranking Tip: Only rank programs you have interviewed at AND are willing to attend! If you match, it is a binding commitment!

Tip #5: Learn how the matching algorithm is processed by reviewing http://www.nrmp.org/res_match/about_res/algorithms.html.
Tip #4: Refer to “Charting Outcomes in the Match, 2011” to assess your competiveness as an applicant and in your desired specialty. http://www.nrmp.org/data/chartingoutcomes2011.pdf
Tip #3: The length of your rank order list does matter! The NRMP data consistently shows that matched applicants have longer ROLs than unmatched applicants. We advise applicants to include all acceptable program choices on their ROLs.
Tip #2: Always rank programs based on your true preference, not where you think you have the best chance of matching!
Tip #1: Finally, do not wait until the last minute to certify your rank order list! Ranking opened on January 15th and the deadline to certify your rank order list is 9:00pm eastern time on February 20th. Give yourself sufficient time to create and certify your ROL. Most last-minute ROL changes are regretted by applicants.

Thanks Shima for the reply, but why you think it is better that way? Is it just because of num.7 is Med/Peds or something special about Hurley...

I don't know anything about Peds programs (I applied IM myself), but on pure "prestige" basis, UTSW should be #1 on your list without a doubt. I mean it all comes down how much you like the place, but it is a well respected program nationally.

There's nothing special about Hurley if you compare it to UTSW or Downstate. The only plus point is a Med/peds program, if you really want that then you can rank it higher.

Thank you so much mle guy,
Do you think Med/Peds really worth trying hard to be double-board certified? What do you think plus points of Med/ped are?

Med/peds is for people who are not sure what they want to do. Its a 4 year program instead of 3 years and you have to take two separate board exams at the end of it.
If you know that you want peds, and you dont want to deal with adults, then there is no point in doing med/peds. Med/peds does not help you in getting a peds job.

Med/Peds

following your patient with a congenital heart disease from early childhood until death.

following your neonates with immunodeficiency and their respected children with them also being adults.

Meds/Peds rule.

Keep your list as it is. Probably put number 7 as number 3 or 4...but don't put it above UTSW.....who said that you would be double board certified????
I know that you have the choice to apply to one of them not both!!! so just keep it like it is....Hundreds of people on forums just wish to get an interview at UTSW...so keep it as it is and trust me
