Info Pathology Residency?

Hey guys,

anybody considering pathology next year?
any idea how competitive it is and what kind of scores you need?
also, how IMG-friendly is it?

I'm starting to think about what residency i'll want to apply to next year and I'm trying to think of fields less patient-oriented and those with a more relaxed lifestyle. I'm not trying to make a million bucks so as long as I can pay my loans off I'm happy, but I have to be doing something comfortable for the rest of my life. I'm an easy going, relaxed guy, I don't like to be rushed or stressed.

Also considering Psych and maybe PMR

Any suggestions?

A friend of mine has been asking around about pathology too. So far, from what we've read in residency books, websites, and from the opinion of US doctors we questioned, pathology is pretty easy to get into. It's a lot less competitive than IM.

For scores/rates of IMGs getting matched there, you might want to check the NRMP data for a more evidence-based info.

Psych is very, very easy to get into. That's the impression I get from the match info that I have read for the past few years.

I want pathology too. I'm a pathologist in my own counry.
I will take step 2 ck in august and cs (hopefully) in july. Maybe I'm too late for 2014 match, but I keep hoping for the best.

I'm also thinking about Pathology, but I'm afraid my Step 1 216 score might be a bit low to be competitive. I understand Pathology takes Step 1 in higher regard than Step 2 CK. I still think that if I get a really good Step 2 CK score I might be competitive.
