Default CME credits for an IMG

Hi,

how much are CME credits useful in the application for residency and interview for a fresh/recent IMG?

There is an online course at Coursera (clinical problem solving), and you can earn 18 CME points of you get accredited and pay around 200usd.
I want to take the course anyway. Is it good deal to pay the 200usd for the credits?

m

I do not know where exactly you would put it on ERAS. It is definitely not a "work experience", research, or volunteer experience, and I cannot think of anywhere else it would fit without looking weird.

For reference on what the ERAS CV forms include, check out the AAMC ERAS Application Worksheet
https://www.aamc.org/download/139512/data/worksheet.pdf

It will show you exactly what you can fill out when it is time to apply through ERAS.

I guess one could put it under the "Other Awards/Accomplishments" tab but that probably would be pushing it too. Can't anyone get free CME credits via MedScape? Some ACLS and PALS courses give you CME credits as well, it would be two birds with one stone.
