Question Congratulations! You have matched to a one-year position. MEANING?

"Congratulations! You have matched to a one-year position."

Can someone please tell me what this means?

I ranked 10 Internal Medicine Categorical Programs and 1 Preliminary Surgery Program.

I did rank #1 the Preliminary Surgery though...

Does this mean I matched to the Preliminary Surgery?

Thanks.

Thanks for the prompt reply..

I understand the post you have provided, but I am still a bit confused.

Given that I only ranked ONE Preliminary Position (Surgery), and the rest of my ranked programs were for Categorical Positions (Internal Medicine)..

Does the e-mail stating "Congratulations, you have matched to a one- year position!" mean I got into Preliminary Surgery (since it is the only one-year position I ranked & the fact that I ranked it #1?)

Thanks once again!

BTW my name is Victor as well!

"matched to a preliminary position"

Most likely. Wont know the actual program until Friday.

Are you ok with this result or do you plan to participate in SOAP?

Best - Victor

It means you matched Prelim and once you are done your prelim year, you will have to reapply to the match in 2014.

Yes, you only matched for a prelim position. You can go for a categorical spot by participating in SOAP
