Question Old LoRs

I will be applying for residency this year. I have two LORS from US. They were given to me in 2011 when I did electives as a student. Is that okay, or should I ask my perceptors for the elctives in US to write them again and send them the copies of the original LORs to do so? Suggestions

Asking them to change the date and some little updates about does seem to help but the best thing is that your LoR not only new by dates but also by recent encounters.
