Question Consequences of failing to match on re-applying

Could anyone please comment on what the consequences are of failing to match this year on re-applying for residency this year. How badly is failing to match the previous year frowned upon?

What if you tried to match this year and didnt get any interviews coz your application was too late?

So does that mean that it is not a negative point?

Why would it be frowned upon? If they invite you for an interview, its because they saw something in you. I don't know for sure, but it seems as if they have no access to knowing whether you applied for match in previous years.

I think it's important however to be genuine in your interview and you most likely will be asked: "What have you been doing since Graduation" and you can easily state what you were doing and mention that you unsuccessfully did not match and of course you don't know why, but you are determined to keep trying until it's done.

Can you imagine how it'd be if all innovators in the history of mankind gave up on their first failed attempt? I tried matching 3x in a row and on the third attempt realized "Wow, this isn't as stressful as people (myself included) alluded it to be; maybe I should relax more and be honest and open in my interviews vs giving robotic and rehearsed answers to their questions" and I believe that thought frame alone helped guide me to a prematch this year.

Good luck, stay strong.
