Question LORs ACLS and BLS should be recent..?

Hi i am just wondering regarding issue of LORs it is considered that more recent LORs are better than old ones..
after how much time a LOR is considered old?----> 1 year?

by the same token i also wana know that ACLS BLS certificates should also be more recent..?

i am applying for match next year so all these BLS, ACLS,pediatric advance life support and first aid online course-american heart association etc. i should do next year OR it is ok to get them this year and upload to ERAS next year with 2013 dates to apply in 2014??
Thanks

What i understand is that just before you start your residency , the residency program sends you to a ACLS course. Am i right? or should we be ACLS certified before we enter residency?

Having these courses like ACLS etc. will not really help your profile, these courses are part of starting any residency along with orientation and pre employment health screening. Your better of spending that money elsewhere

The ERAS application does ask you if you are ACLS and/or PALS certified. I'm not sure how important it is that you are before residency. However, I always thought "if it didn't matter, why would they ask?"

Hi Dave,

I don't know about the LORs but I can help you with you other question. You can do ACLS or PALS this year and still be useful for next year because all those courses has a 2 year validity. They usually recommend that you renovate those courses after 2 years.
