Its difficult to match without us lors.. if you want you can ask the radiology folks to write you an lor commenting on your character rather than your interest in radiology.

I don't know the proportion but such information is not mentioned for most of the programs. Better to go for an observership in IM if elective is not possible so that you atleast have one im lor.

2 of my electives were from one of the top 20 universities in USA and one from a very good univ affiliated community hospital with fellowship in almost all departments. Do I have to apply to University programs for IM obsei or can i go for a pvt clinic rotation as univ programs charge anywhere from 750 - 2k /month. I guess I could pass thru the Usce requirement filter if any at most places with 3 months electives and satisfy the 1 us im lor with a pvt clinic obsei, was thinking if i shud shell out tat much money fr the univ based rotation now. wats ur view on this ?? thanks

WOW I have a lot of respect for you, with that profile you will get a spot no matter what... In the US serving in the army gives you an extremely high profile, even if you didnt do that, your scores are ok and you have a good overall CV with your research and work experience.

Go for it

Thanks a bunch! I can pretty much only afford to apply to 70 Programs or so... I want to do internal at University Program that is at least middle of the road... Sometimes reading the forums kind of paint a bleak picture... Thank you for your reassuring words... Dan

Of course, it shows that you have discipline, that you have honor and that you have the capacity to work in extreme, strenous environments.. Out of all applicants I would pick you just because of that...

You have research experience+ paper presentations+military exp+good scores; that means polivalence which is so rare to find.

Thank you again for your time and response. I am humbled by your comments.... I hope that some program directors will view my CV the same way you do...Going to medicine was a daunting decision for me, especially coming from Wallstreet, where I was having an outstanding career. It was definitely a necessary decision... Is there anything else you recommend I do while I await to apply for the match? Daniel
