Embarrassed Advise & opinion needed please !

I really want your opinion and advise guys on my chances for an IM residency in the next match

  • YOG:2010
  • step 1 : 228 (got the result yesterday )
  • step 2 ck : 212
  • CS : scheduled for next month
  • 1 month of Externship in a big hospital in NJ
  • 1 U.S. lor
  • 3 lors from my med school
  • US citizen
  • was an average student in my med school if that makes any difference
  • English is like my 2nd First language as I kinda grew up in the States
  • in my C.V. I went to med school in 2001 & should've graduated in 2007 but I graduated in 2010 because I had to stay in USA for 2 years to finish my citizenship paperwork, didn't fail any year in school though. ( I'm not really sure if that gonna affect me that much, plz advice)

What are my chances to get IM residency if I apply in the next match for only a 100 program ( because that's all I can afford ) & if I have a chance is it reasonable to apply for a university program or that would be a waste of money ??!

please ,any input is appreciated, thank you.

you will get 5 IV's. 1 will be prematch. You will take the prematch iA.

if you do step 3, get 222+ your chances are super good. more than 8 IV.
PEOPLE do not have a crystal ball to answer and predict the future. everyone has a different case.

My husband with super scores got 1 IV in something super competitive and matched.
My best friend with scores like you had 11 IV in IM and took a prematch.;

another friend has 7 IV did not match.

everyone has a different case.

there are some programs, that offer prematch, since no one else wants to go there.

I think last year there was like 11 IM programs.

I think anything lower than 7 is bad.

but anyone wit 7 IV have matched.

some matched with 2 some 1.

one last question Shima I swear,
so being a US citizen helps but don't have that enormous effect as one would imagine, right?
because you think I would get the same IVs as anybody else with the same credentials.
cause I though it would help more & actually I have a friend of mine counting on that.thanks in advance

being a GC holder and US-citizen helps by applying to the programs that offer no VISA. that is it.
