Question Should I wait for next year if I don't have my CS result before September 15th?

Hi all,
I am a new one in this forum and I am sorry if my post overlaps with some threads before. May I ask some questions? Is it possible that I could apply this year when my CS result comes on October? Is it a disadvantage? Should I wait for next year? Do you think that FM more competitive than IM, especially for IMGs? I have already passed usmle step 1 and step 2 CK with 3 LoRs. Thanks!

Thanks a lot, Shima! My scores are just average, 220s and 230s . What are my chances if I just apply for community program?

it should be good.
but remember community requires you to have variety of LOR to show you can work with other physicians well.
I say IM, 1 FM and 1 from another field if you could.
try to get a specialist for IM like Cardio.

I love to have Cardiology externship but many ppl recommend that we should focus on IM ( not specific like Cardio ) or FM because it will increase our chances. Is that true? Thanks !

I'm in a similar situation. My CS result will be out by October, maybe even November according to ECFMG website.
I'm an old IMG graduated in 2000, graduated from specialty in my home country in 2004 and working in my field since then.
My step 1 is 234 and I'm preparing for Step 2 & 3 now.
I have no idea if I can (or should) get a LOR from my own country it's been a long time since I was a resident here.
I started trying to contact hospitals in the US for observership opportunities.

My question is, could I give it a try this November with only USMLE results in hand, seeing if I get an interview, or should I better off wait until the 2015 match once I get USCE and LORs?
Do I damage my chances to be matched in 2015 if I try now for 2014?
Is it so dangerous to dream with having a strike of pure dumb luck and get matched in 2014?
Thank you very much
