Default Step Cut-Off for Prgrams

So after going on FRIEDA and looking at programs, most of them have USMLE Cut Offs of 180 or 210. And after looking at program specific websites, they don't publish their resident profiles of average/range of scores. Is it common or unheard of to call the program and ask how competitive your score is in regards to obtaining an IV so that you are realistic? And If so, what is the approach, and who should you email or call? Residency Director/Residency Coordinator/ Secretary, etc... B/C obviously I just dont want to apply to a program that won't even look at me. How you you all begin researching programs to apply to?

FREIDA is a bad place to look for cut off scores (they're not always uptodate). Call the Program Coordinator and ask them the questions you mentioned above.

what are your scores

also many programs either state on their website, and if not on the website is a dynamic approach. meaning is a filter.

so if 1000 people apply they will use the marks as a filter to look at top 100 people first.

having the cut off point does not guarantee you an interview.
