Unhappy No more IMGs in 2015

Hello everyone,

I am a fresh graduate from LUMHS, Pakistan and also new to the world of usmle. I am getting very discouraged by reading articles that after 2015 it will become very competitive for img to get im or paeds and even family medicine as US seats will increase (

I am planning to sit step 1 in December and step 2 the following summer so earliest I can apply would be for 2015 or 2016 match. The problem is my parents are pressuring me to get married soon but I really want to pursue my dream of America but I don't know how to convince them whether all the effort will work out. I got accepted at Aga Khan Hospital for house job so I am very double minded. Im a non-US IMG as well

(No More IMGs for Residency Training Programs After 2015, Says Journal of American Medical Association -
By 2015, the number of graduates from US medical schools is expected to surpass the number of positions in residency programs. Going with the trend of preference by US Residency Programs given to US Seniors, it will become nearly impossible for IMGs to get into US GME Programs)

Is this true? Any input would be appreciated

thank you and sorry for the depressing msg.
