Thumbs Up NRMP vs ERAS

Although I read the information provided on AAMC website, I just got the idea that these two are different and some programs may participate in one and not the other. In addition, registration with one of them does not mean we registered for both. I also know that as an IMG, I have to apply through ERAS. However, my question is do we need to register with NRMP also or not? What is the importance of NRMP for IMGs? Is there any connection between NRMP and prematch?

ERAS is for applying to programs.
NRMP is for matching between applicants and programs.

Some programs do not participate in NRMP because they fill up their seats via "prematches" what's called "All-Out". If you have to be offered a prematch from such programs then you don't have to register in NRMP or if you have already done so, you need to withdraw from NRMP.

Check the ERAS and NRMP and Prematch tag links at the bottom of thread to learn more.

You can check the list programs who offered prematches in the 2013 season here
